Day 9 – God, My Life is Crazy – Please Help Me Seek You First
My “word” for 2018 has been … SEEK.
I based it on Matthew 6:33:
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
The thing I’ve realized as the year winds down is that this word “SEEK” will be my focus for the rest of my life!
So, today I’m praying, will you join me..?
God, My Life is Crazy – Please Help Me Seek You First
Father, Why does it always feel like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done.
You created everything with perfect order and perfect timing … we’re the ones who have messed it all up. We’re the ones who have things out of order.
I know I’m guilty. I’m sorry, Father. Please forgive me.
And help me glance away from the demands for a moment and turn my attention completely toward You.
May I like David, say…
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalm 27:8
And when I seek You first, You promise to give me everything I need.
Everything I NEED!
Please help me separate my wants from my needs. So many of the things I pray for are wants more than needs; and yet, like a loving parent, You care about both.
Today I ask You to help me trust You with every detail of my life. Help me surrender my wants and my needs to You.
I surrender my life to You!
I give You my day!
I will…
Trust in You, Lord with all my heart;
with Your Spirit’s help,
I will not depend on my own understanding.
I will seek Your will in all I do,
and trust You to show me which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5–6
Father, by Your grace, help me to plan and prioritize my day according to Your will.
Help me:
Love and seek You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Matthew 22:37
Love others and make people a priority over possessions. Matthew 22:39
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Obey Your will as You reveal it to me. 2 John 1:6
Live for Your glory. Romans 6:13
Please grant me wisdom and understanding, peace and patience.
Father, when I’m tempted to focus on the problem in front of me and my heart and mind spin with worry and confusion … gently draw me back. Hold me close. I need You.
I trust You. I love You. I will forever and always, SEEK YOU FIRST!
In Jesus name and with the Spirit’s help. Amen.
We would love to pray for you.

Thank you, Deb, for including us in this day-by-day journey of drawing closer to God in a crazy season.
Deb, I’d forgotten that “seek” was your word for the year. It’s a fantastic one, and struck a chord with me as I read your offering here today. Could it become my word for 2019? Praying about that . . .
Blessings!
Good morning, Deb.
Thank you for preparing these daily prayers. They are such an encouragement.
Peace and grace,
Tammy
Deb – I have lots of gratitude for you today.
1. Thank you for putting together the 40 days of prayers. I love them. Isn’t if strange how each day it seems to be just what I need to hear. I love your word for 2018. I had my word chosen for 2019, but now I need to go back to prayer about it.
2. Thank you for featuring my post today. I hope it speaks into the lives of many.
Blessings,
Maree
Beautiful prayer, Deb. You touched on a lot of things close to my heart. I am a work in progress separating my wants from needs, but I am learning to not listen to the attacks from Satan that distract from doing God’s will. Thank you for allowing me to share with you all here. I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving. May God continue to bless you and yours this holiday season.
We do find a way to be busy, don’t we? The holiday season is the busiest time of the year. Thank you for the gentle reminder to slow down and seek God in the midst of all our rushing around!
Amen. A beautiful prayer. laurensparks.net
Praying this for myself as well! “Father, when I’m tempted to focus on the problem in front of me and my heart and mind spin with worry and confusion … gently draw me back.” Amen.
Thank you Deb, yes seek Him in all things…I couldn’t do this life without Him!
Blessings,
Jennifer
