7 Verses To Fight The Enemy’s Lies About God’s Love

The enemy's lies are relentless when God responds to our prayers with "no" or "not yet." Satan has always tempted people to doubt God's love. These promises of God will help you fight back.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
    His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 118:1

That is TRUTH but the enemy constantly lies and tells us that God is holding out on us and that we can’t trust His love.

We live in a world where love can be selfish … where the recipient dictates the definition and terms based on their own needs and desires. So, when God says “no” the enemy of our souls immediately begins to tempt us with doubt.

How could a loving God not heal my loved one? How could a loving God allow that horrible tragedy? How could a loving God allow me to become homeless? How could a loving God not give me a child? How could a loving God not __________?

I believe that’s one of the reasons God’s Word tells us to be prepared to fight our spiritual battles with the Sword of the Spirit . . . the Word of God.

When we hear the enemy’s lies:

1. We can tell him about God’s faithful forgiveness…

In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free.

Psalm 118:5

Because God promises…

If we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:9)

2. We can tell him that God is for us and we will not be afraid…

The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?

Psalm 118:6

Because God promises…

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

3. We can tell him that the Lord is our Helper and Place of Safety…

The Lord is with me; He is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in humans.

Psalm 118:7–8

Because God promises…

All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield. (Psalm 115:11)

4. We can tell him that we trust God to give us the strength we need for victory over temptation…

The Lord is my strength and my song;
    He has given me victory.

Psalm 118:14

Because God promises…

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

5. We can tell him how we trust that God is able to do the impossible…

The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph.
The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things!

Psalm 118:16

Because God promises…

“Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

6. We can tell him that we trust God because He has answered our prayers in the past and forgiven us every time we repent…

I thank you for answering my prayer
    and giving me victory!

Psalm 118:21

Because God promises…

Thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

7. We can tell him to get away from us because Jesus is the foundation of our faith…

The stone that the builders rejected
    has now become the cornerstone.

Psalm 118:22

Because God promises…

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

The enemy's lies are relentless when God responds to our prayers with "no" or "not yet." Satan has always tempted people to doubt God's love. These promises of God will help you fight back.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer to Fight the Enemy’s Lies
with the Truth of God’s Love

Father, I do give You thanks and praise. I KNOW that Your faithful love never fails and lasts forever. I know in my heart that You are who You say You are and You always have and always will do what You say You will do. You keep Your promises.

And yet, when life is hard or Your answer to my prayers is “no” or “not yet” the enemy of my soul whispers lies inviting me to doubt Your love. I want to be strong. I want to trust Your will is best even when it isn’t what I want but the enemy is relentless. Jesus said that lying is “consistent with his character” as he is the “father of lies.” (John 8:44)

So, I come to You, Lord, asking You to help me fight his lies with Your TRUTH. Please help me store Your Word in my heart so that I might be prepared to speak Your TRUTH to his lies.

Thank you for Your love and forgiveness. Thank you for helping me, protecting me, and for calming my fears. Thank you for giving me strength and for all the times You have made the impossible possible. Thank you for hearing my prayers. Thank you most of all for the gift of Jesus the One who is the foundation of my faith. It’s in His name I pray. Amen.

The enemy's lies are relentless when God responds to our prayers with "no" or "not yet." Satan has always tempted people to doubt God's love. These promises of God will help you fight back.

May the Lord give us everything we need to be prepared for battle so that we might fight our spiritual battles by wearing the armor of truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation. (Ephesians 6) And may we reject the enemy’s lies with the sword of the Spirit/the Word of Truth.

May we hold in our hearts the promises of the One who makes all things possible.

When we have had the strength we needed to stand in faith, we can say…

This is the Lord’s doing,
and it is wonderful to see.

Psalm 118:23

And we can live with joy trusting Him to give us everything we need…

This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

God be with you, bless you, and strengthen you to fight the enemy’s lies with God’s TRUTH.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 118:29

Beautiful advice for all of us, Deb. Let us run to God’s Word when we find ourselves troubled and confused.

  2. Kathy Francescon says:

Amen Deb! God’s Word is our weapon. It is the two-edge sword that we are blessed with to battle the enemy and the forces of evil. The enemy wants to keep us shrouded in fear, doubt, and insecurity. The last thing he wants us to do is trust God and His Word. But when we know God’s Truths, we can demolish every lie the enemy wants us to believe. I love 2nd Corinthians 10:5…Casting down imaginations, and every high thing exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST.
May God bless us all to be the conquerors He wants us to be!

Thank you Deb I really needed this reassurance knowing God will always be with me no matter what, even in difficult times. I need to remain with our Lord to give me the strength, Grace, and mercy to help me combat the enemy. It is so easy to have doubt in him when we see people suffering and ask ourselves why does God permit that. I just need to have faith and trust in him to give me the understanding and strength to help me with my suffering.
Blessings to all who follow this day blog.????
