God Cares About The Big & Small Things Of Life
God cares about you and me and all He’s created.
And God is in control!
Elisabeth Elliot wrote…
“If you believe in a God who controls the big things, you have to believe in a God who controls the little things. It is we, of course, to whom things look ‘little’ or ‘big’.”
Those words came to mind as I read the Psalmist’s words of praise in Psalm 113.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 113:1–4
Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
now and forever.
Everywhere—from east to west—
praise the name of the Lord.
For the Lord is high above the nations;
His glory is higher than the heavens.
We praise people we respect and admire. We praise celebrities, leaders, and the rich and powerful. But the truth is, God alone is the One who is worthy of all our praise.
And one of the reasons God is worthy relates to Elizabeth Elliot’s quote.
He is the God of all things created . . . the entirety of the vast universe and the individuality of the tiniest creature all were made by and belong to Him.
Who can be compared with the Lord our God,
Psalm 113:5–7
who is enthroned on high?
He stoops to look down
on heaven and on earth.
He lifts the poor from the dust
and the needy from the garbage dump.
He is enthroned on high and watches over every detail of the heavens and earth. All creatures great and small belong to Him. Yet, He set people apart making them in His own image. And He loves them so much that He sent His Son to save them from the consequences of sin. He sent His Spirit to live with and within all who place their faith and trust in Him.
Yes, God cares! David wrote…
The Lord is my Shepherd;
Psalm 23:1–3
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to His name.
We can be certain that God cares about the big picture of our lives, He cares about our individual moments, and He cares about our forever future.
The tiniest details of our lives are so important to Him that He willingly leads, renews, and guides the hearts and minds of all who surrender their lives to Him in faith.
Isaiah wrote the following message from the Lord…
I have cared for you since you were born.
Isaiah 46:3b–4
Yes, I carried you before you were born.
I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you.
He is worthy of all our praise. He is not some godly figure out there somewhere far away. He is with us watching over the big and small things in life because He cares!

God Cares About the Big & Small Things of My Life
Father God, You created everything that exists. You could have set it all in motion and then left it to preserve itself. But You are loving and caring. You watch over every ocean and river, mountain and valley, tree and flower. You keep Your eye on animals, birds, and creatures of the sea. And You nurture and attend to me.
The events of the world are important to You and the details of my life are under Your care. All things big & small are under Your supervision and oversight. Jesus told us not to worry because if You watch over wildflowers and birds . . . You certainly will take care of us. (Matthew 6:30) Peter told believers to give their worries and cares to You because You care for them. (1 Peter 5:7) And David said that You know everything about us. (Psalm 139:1)
So, I will praise You forever and always. I will lift up Your name that the world might KNOW of Your love and provision. I will proclaim Jesus and the gift of amazing grace You offer so freely through Him. I will entrust my life to You because You understand that I am poor and needy . . . that I need Your care and compassion every day of my life. By Your grace and with Your help, I will SEEK You above all else and trust that You will keep Your promise to give me everything I need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Here are just a few more verses to help us remember that God cares about the big & small things in our lives.
God cares about the big things:
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
Romans 8:38
God cares about the small things:
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:22–23
For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.
Romans 11:36
As you go through the day today, remember . . . God cares. He cares for you. He cares about the big & small things in your life and He is with you always.
May we SEEK Him and TRUST Him forever and always! Praise the Lord!
