How to Know, Love and Trust God and Enjoy a Blessing
Do you have a friend, mentor, or family member whom although they have been gone for years, your heart still overflows with love every single time you think about them?
I am so excited to be starting my favorite book of the Bible today.
John wrote his Gospel message 50+ years after Jesus ascended into heaven and LOVE pour out through every phrase on every page. John loved Jesus and Jesus loved John.
And he wants everyone who reads his words to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST JESUS too!
So, John started back at the beginning…
In the beginning, the Word already existed.
John 1:1
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
With the Word – who spoke creation into existence.
God created everything through him,
John 1:3
and nothing was created except
through him.
The Word – who is greater than any problem you or I face.
The Word gave life to everything
John 1:4–5
that was created, and his life
brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
The Word – who loved those He created so much He became one of them to save them.
So the Word became human
John 1:14
and made his home among us.
He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
And we have seen his glory,
the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
The Word – who revealed the very nature and character of God Himself.
From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
John 1:16–18
One of the most common struggles people have, as they try to get to know Jesus, is that they minimize who He really is. They think of Him as part God and part man, or all of one or the other, not . . . 100% God and 100% Man. God in the flesh on earth to save and redeem His fallen creation.
John knew, love, and trusted Jesus completely and he invited people to “come and see.” Because when they come as a SEEKer, their hearts and minds will be opened to see God Himself. And through Jesus, they will come to KNOW God, LOVE God, and TRUST God completely.
A Prayer to Know, Love, and Trust God
Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to earth to save us and show us the Father’s overwhelming love. Thank you for making it possible for us to KNOW the very nature and character of the Great I AM. You revealed that both the law and gospel are features of God and what He wants for us. The Law shows us His will and teaches us that when we follow it we will be blessed with direction and protection. The Gospel shows us His forgiving love that covers our failures with mercy and grace.
Jesus, You perfectly represent both the Law and the grace of the Gospel. Please forgive me for failing to trust You completely and by Your mercy and grace, help me to KNOW You are God, the Messiah. Help me to LOVE You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. And help me to TRUST and OBEY Your will that I might live each day for Your glory and enjoy the blessings of a soul completely surrendered to You. Amen.
You may be wondering . . . so, what’s the blessing?
The truth is, when you and I know, trust, and love God we are blessed with…
- undeserved all-sufficient grace.
- a peace that passes understanding.
- freedom from doubt, worry, and fear.
- courage and strength to face life’s challenges.
- a future filled with hope and promise.
- and so much more.
On today’s note write:
Thank you Jesus for making it possible for me to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST GOD!
God bless you today as you SEEK the One who loves you more than you can hope or imagine.
Yes! Thank you, Jesus, for loving us so much and leading us to know and love the Father.
