Celebrate Independence Day Now With 5 Uplifting Prayers

Happy Independence Day!
I thought we’d take a moment to look at the definition of independence…
1. Not subject to control by others: self-governing.
2. Not requiring or relying on someone or something else.
3. A country or region gaining political freedom from outside control.
Some synonyms for independence include being self-sufficient, self-reliant, self-supported, self-sustaining, and having the ability to live in freedom.
249 years ago, our nation’s leaders signed The Declaration of Independence and announced that this country would from then on be self-governing and free.
They boldly stated their belief that everyone is connected through their reliance on the Creator and one another…
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
For the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
Oh, that we would once again be completely united as one nation under God.
So, let’s pause this Independence Day to pray for faith and the blessing of being formed as one nation under God!
5 Uplifting Prayers for Independence Day
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Father, thank you for our Founding Fathers, who recognized their need to found this nation on Your provision and guidance. Throughout these 249 years, we have faced trials and challenges, and some have turned from You to follow beliefs and behaviors that disobey Your commands.
But many many years ago, You promised that if Your children would come to You in prayer, humbling themselves in repentance, and turning from sin with hearts that long to trust and obey You … You would forgive them and heal their land.
We come before You, asking You to forgive our sinfulness, fill us with faith, and strengthen us to obey in the name of Jesus. Heal us, so that we might be restored and united as one nation under Your sovereign grace, mercy, and love. Amen.
Trust in the Lord and do good.
Psalm 37:3–4
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take delight in the Lord,
and He will give you your heart’s desires.
Oh, Father, I pray that we would be a nation that trusts You are who You say You are. I pray that You will build a revival across our nation so that we might all proclaim Your name in faith.
May we trust You fully and experience the blessings of living according to Your plans and purposes. May we find great joy in loving You and the people around us. And be SEEKers of Your TRUTH so that our heart’s desires will align with Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people He has chosen as His own.

Father God, Jesus showed the world the greatness of Your love. You created each of us and put before us the plans You want us to follow. Jesus said, “The world would love us as one of its own if we belonged to it.” But You chose us to come out of the world and follow Him. (John 15:19)
Thank you for inspiring the founders of our country, who penned and signed the Declaration of Independence, to founding America on Your Word and prayer.
Please forgive us and return our nation to You. May we recognize the blessings of trusting and obeying Your Commands, living and loving as You desire. Amen.
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

Father, I lift President Trump, Vice President Vance, every Cabinet Member, Senator, Member of Congress, Governor, State, and Local Leader to You. By the power of Your Spirit, please surround them with Your truth and create in them the humble desire to SEEK, KNOW, LOVE, TRUST, and OBEY You.
There is an unsettling amount of chaos and confusion in our nation and our world. The spiritual battle of good and evil is becoming abundantly evident everywhere we look. We need You! Please help us shine the Light of Your Love. Please direct our leaders, and restore us to You. Amen.
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
Galatians 5:13
Heavenly Father, freedom is a precious gift. Thank you for setting us free through Christ Jesus. And thank you for the men who built this nation knowing freedom’s value.
Please help us use our freedom wisely. It is fragile and not to be taken lightly. Your Spirit inspired Paul to write that we are slaves of whatever or whoever we choose to obey. I pray that You will help our country’s population know the blessing of obeying You. Help us honor You by loving and serving each other as You desire. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
