God's love is perfect and unfailing. His love endures forever. Here are 10 truths and a prayer that will help us know for sure that we can trust God's love.

I love God’s timing and the assurance that His love endures forever.

When I decided to write through the Book of Psalms this year, I had no idea Psalm 136 would be the one that would fall during the week of Thanksgiving.

It’s possible you grew up responsively reading this Psalm at a Thanksgiving worship service. I remember one of our Pastors reading the first line of each verse followed by everyone in attendance responding with…

His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 136

The Life Application Bible Notes say the repetition of these words in Psalm 136 reminds us that…

God’s love includes aspects of love, kindness, mercy, and faithfulness. We never have to worry that God will run out of love. because it flows from a well that will never run dry.

So, let’s take a look at all the reasons we can be sure that God’s love endures forever:

  1. God is good. v. 1
  2. He is God of gods and Lord of lords. v. 2 & 3
  3. He alone does mighty miracles. v. 4
  4. He made the heavens and the earth. v. 5 & 6
  5. He created the sun, moon, and stars. v. 7, 8, & 9
  6. He brought His people out of Egypt and led them through the wilderness. v. 10–16
  7. He gave the Promised Land to His “servant Israel.” v. 17–22
  8. He remembered us in our weaknesses. v. 23
  9. He saved us from our enemies. v. 24
  10. He provides for us. v. 25

Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 136:26

So, let’s join those who have repeated this Psalm for generations and pause this week to thank and praise God for who He is and all He has done…

Let’s praise Him for His goodness, His saving grace, and loving mercy.

Let’s…

Thank and Praise Him for Jesus.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

Thank and Praise Him for Hope.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Thank and Praise Him for His Mercy and Grace.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:15

Thank and Praise Him for the Gift of Faith.

Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7

Thank and Praise Him for His Provision and Care.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7

Thank and Praise Him for Family and Friends.

We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 1 Thessalonians 1:2

The following quote says it well…

“To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us — and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him.” ~Thomas Merton

Let’s pray, praise, and thank God…

A Prayer of Thanks and Praise for
His Love Endures Forever

Father, We thank and praise You. All creation proclaims Your unfailing love. Jesus physically showed us Your perfect love through His life, death, and resurrection. Love is who You are and everything You do is an extension of Your love.

Yes, Lord! Your love endures forever. Please give us eyes and ears to see and hear Your loving care. Give us hearts and minds to trust Your promises. Give us strength to obey Your commands and courage to follow Your will.

Thank you for giving me faith and allowing me to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You! Thank you for giving me family and friends to love and walk with me on this journey. Thank you for Your mercy and grace that make all things possible. Thank you for giving me the hope that lasts forever.

Thank you for hearing my prayers. I love You, Lord. I give myself to You trusting in Your perfect everlasting love. Amen.

And here are a few more quotes about God’s enduring love…

“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God’s love encompasses us completely. … He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“God does not look on the outward appearance. I believe that He doesn’t care one bit if we live in a castle or a cottage, if we are handsome or homely, if we are famous or forgotten. Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without a compass, God’s love encompasses us completely. [1 John 4:7–8]” ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“Think of the purest, most all-consuming love you can imagine. Now multiply that love by an infinite amount—that is the measure of God’s love for you.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Whatever is going on in your life today … you can trust God’s love. There is nothing you and I can do to make Him love us more and no flaw or failure will make Him love us less. When we fall short of His perfect will, we can go to Him with repentant hearts, and through His perfect love, He will forgive us and free us of all guilt and shame.

So, this week and every week thank and praise God and rest in the confidence that His perfect love endures forever.

We would love to pray for you.

Oh Debbie, I was sinking into serious depression and had started doubting Gods love for me. I was basing my feeling’s on the fact that I helped so many people and when I was in trouble God not not seemingly show up. I had started getting bitter in my spirit and almost lost interest in prayer. Oh my God, the holy spirit visited me through what you have just shared. He reminded of his love and care when doctors wrote me off. He reminded me of the many many ways he cared even when I was distracted from his way. Oh my God my spirit is over joyed. I feel a confidence in his love that I have not felt in so many years of my salvation. Indeed his love endures forever.
I so grateful you this,my life is back to more that fine.

    1. Lillian, you words blessed me so more than words can express. I love hearing about the ways the Holy Spirit is able to take His Word and the perfect moment in time to draw us close and fill our hearts with God’s love. I’m praying for you … thanking the Lord for blessing you in this moment and asking Him to continue to fill you with faith, hope, and love. God be with you and bless you abundantly.

Thank you, Deb, for today’s devotional that spoke directly to my heart and echoed my morning prayer to Father God through his precious Son, Jesus, that through this world’s confusion and my shortcomings, may God alone grant me both eyes to see and ears to hear, HIM, through HIS Holy Spirit.

    1. What a beautiful prayer, Ann. May God give us everything we need to focus on Him in this noisy deceptive world. God be with you and bless you!

  4. We are all so blessed because God is who He is. He never forsakes or let’s us down. I am amazed every day that He chose ME to be in his world. From the very beginning, he knew who He would choose. God is so good and does deserve our every praise!!
Blessings to You Dear Deb! And many prayers and hugs too.

Don’t know if this is helpful to you. A typo in list Ps 136 2nd listing: “Lord or lords”. I am sure “Lord of lords”. Hope helpful and not bothersome. Bless you.

    1. Thank you, Linda. I triple check my posts but occasionally one will slip through and I appreciate the heads up so I can fix it. God bless you!
