Peace of mind is not always easy to come by. There are stressors within & without. The news & social media are full of stories that the enemy uses to fill us with fear & anxiety that robs our peace.

How often do you think, if only I could enjoy a few moments of peace?

Peace of mind is not easy to come by. There are stressors within and without. The news and social media are full of stories that the enemy uses in his attempt to steal our peace. And once he gets his message into our thoughts, anxiety seems to pop up way too frequently.

Jesus told His disciples…

“I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:25–27

Praise God for the Holy Spirit, who works in us to remind us of the Lord’s promises and give us peace. The world views peace as simply the absence of conflict, but the peace God gives us offers the assurance that, whatever our circumstances, we can count on Him to keep His promises now and always.

Here are just some of God’s promises to give you peace…

You will keep in perfect peace
    all who trust in You,
all whose thoughts are fixed on You!

Isaiah 26:3

God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else,
and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6–7

I spent way too much of my life listening to the anxious lies of the enemy. I worried about my health and the health of my loved ones. I had anxiety about being a good parent and stressed over a long list of things that probably didn’t matter as much as I thought they did.

In all honesty, I struggled with anxiety over my anxiety.

I knew God wanted me to enjoy His peace, but my faith wasn’t as strong as my knowledge. I could completely relate to the father who said, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

By grace, the Spirit patiently works within me. Years ago, He gave me Psalm 73:26 as my life verse…

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    He is mine forever.

In more recent years, He prompted me to add verses 23–25…

I still belong to You;
    You hold my right hand.
You guide me with Your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but You?
I desire You more than anything on earth.

When you and I surrender everything to the Lord in faith and cling to His promises through the work of the Holy Spirit, we enjoy the peace only He can give. With His help, we can surrender everything that makes us anxious and afraid.

Peace of mind is not always easy to come by. There are stressors within & without. The news & social media are full of stories that the enemy uses to fill us with fear & anxiety that robs our peace.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer for Peace of Mind and Heart
Through the Holy Spirit’s Presence

Thank you, Father, for the blessing of peace. Jesus is the source of all we need to live with faith, trusting Your plans and purposes. Jesus promised that You would send the Spirit to be with and within us when He returned to reign with You in heaven.

Thank you for offering us peace of mind and heart when we place our hope and trust in the Savior. I know the world cannot give me the peace I want and need. I’ve foolishly tried to find it through the ridiculous lies of the enemy, who wants us to believe that if we have enough money, beauty, lasting youth, and lots of friends … we will experience peace.

But none of those things are lasting. Everything this world offers is fragile and temporary. But Your love lasts forever. Your Spirit guides us to know Your will as He reminds us of Your promises. He graciously provides us with a peace that is greater than our understanding.

Thank you for inspiring the prophet Isaiah to assure us of the perfect peace You give to those who trust You. With the Spirit’s help, I will trust in You and forever thank and praise You for the gracious blessing of peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Peace of mind is not always easy to come by. There are stressors within & without. The news & social media are full of stories that the enemy uses to fill us with fear & anxiety that robs our peace.

Do you want to enjoy peace of mind that goes beyond understanding?

Turn to God.
KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE Jesus.
Welcome the presence and power of His Spirit.

Yes, there will be trials and troubles, but because Jesus defeated the enemy, we can be confident that our challenges are temporary and the Lord’s promises last forever.

So, this is my prayer for you, dear friend…

May the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

Thank you for your persistence to share God’s word. I was struggling last night as I lay in bed worrying about my young adult children. It’s a new season for me and I have been anxious thinking that I did not do enough as a mother. I just worried about a lot for them…their choices, their salvation, their walk with God.
I will lay it all at His feet and seek the Peace He promises.

    1. Thank you for sharing this, Christina. I carry that struggle often and I believe it’s a struggle for all mothers. But I’ve been reminded often, that we do our best with the information we have at the time. So, we continue to love and pray and give it to God. Thank you for your kind encouragement. God bless you!

  4. Grateful Deb for this message that so perfectly described my spiritual situation. Yes, I too, frequently cry out with that father to help my unbelief. Over this Easter holiday, I realized how my own unbelief holds down God’s hand from blessing my life or to bring me to His plans. It hit me, that listening to sermons, even reading the Word doesn’t make any difference unless I put it into practice in my life. And while my heart is not fully there, don’t feel anything, or not even sure of my own honesty, I want to press into God’s promises. Because one thing I do know beyond any shadow of a doubt that despite my unfaithfulness, despite my wavering faith, He never forgot me. While my love is less than sufficient, Jesus never stopped loving me. Even began the work of my husband’s life.
Have a feeling that I could deal with life’s challenges far better if I’d have a conviction that Jesus has full control of my life, that I unquestionably belong to Him.
One of my long time foundational passages is Isaiah 43 :1
“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” and
Isaiah 41:13, God says, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.'”
Both are constant reminders of God’s love, and of that strong right hand that grips mine and doesn’t let it slip from His hold. There is so much hope in these promises…..I just need to learn to Trust and Believe…

    1. Thank you for being so open about your faith and the ways God is working in your heart. And for sharing the truth of God’s love from His Word. Even when we can’t see or understand, His love never changes. He is always working in and around us to accomplish His good will. I’m praying that He will help me remember daily that even when I don’t understand His hand, I can always trust His heart. He won’t forsake us ever. Continuing to pray for you, friend. God bless you!
