Positive Attitudes that will Help You Enjoy Peace Now
Did you know having a positive attitude is essential for you to experience and enjoy peace?
Grumpy people who are easily angered rarely have consistent peace.
But even when we know it’s important to have a positive attitude, do we know what it takes to experience it?
That connection between positivity and peace made me want to learn more about what God’s Word has to say…
How to Have Positive Attitudes
that Will Help You Enjoy Peace
❤️ Focus on Life’s Blessings
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8
❤️ Spend Time in Prayer
Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6b–7
❤️ Remember You Don’t Deserve and Can’t Earn God’s Mercy & Grace
God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Ephesians 2:8
❤️ Trust God’s Plans & Purposes
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11
❤️ Be Still & Trust God
“Be still, and know that I am God!
Psalm 46:10
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
❤️ Stop Comparing – Trust God’s Personal Love for You
I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.
Psalm 139:14(NCV), 17–18
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!
❤️ Don’t Be Afraid – Trust the Lord to Give You Peace
When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
John 14:26–27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
We live in a sinful world filled with sinful people.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
Focusing on God’s loving promises will help us experience and enjoy a positive attitude that gives peace.
The Spirit inspired Paul to write…
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Romans 3:22
Faith, forgiveness, and freedom in Christ Jesus inspire positive attitudes and peace that God desires.
Peter wrote…
By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
2 Peter 1:3–4
God’s grace and divine power are the things we need to have positive attitudes and enjoy peace.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer Asking God for the Positive Attitudes
Needed to Enjoy Peace
Father God, There is so much chaos in our world. People are unsettled and anxious. Lies are called truth and the truth is called lies. Divisiveness is promoted and trusting You is discouraged. Positive attitudes are elusive when the voices around us shout upsetting messages.
I want to enjoy the peace that passes understanding … peace that can only be found in You.
By Your grace and the power of Your Spirit, I ask You to empower me to focus on the blessings You give me. Please help me faithfully and quietly spend time in Your presence and as I grow in the knowledge of who You are and all You do, please give me everything I need to trust You in all circumstances.
Your Word tells me that You created me for specific plans and purposes in my life. Whether my life is joy-filled or challenging Scripture tells me You promise to give me everything I need when I SEEK You. With Your Spirit’s help, I can have a positive attitude and enjoy peace trusting in You, Lord of all and Lord of my life.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
I believe the following quotes explain it well…
“Peace comes when there is no cloud between us and God. Peace is the consequence of forgiveness, God’s removal of that which obscures His face and so breaks union with Him.” ~ Bishop Charles H. Brent
“Blessed are the single-hearted, for they shall enjoy much peace… If you refuse to be hurried and pressed, if you stay your soul on God, nothing can keep you from that clearness of spirit which is life and peace. In that stillness, you know what His will is.” ~ Amy Carmichael
So, how’s your attitude?
If you find it hard to enjoy peace because of the chaos around you, run to Jesus. Trust God’s promises and count your blessings … the One who loves you most has everything you need to experience and enjoy peace today.
We would love to pray for you.

Without trusting, believing, abiding and being a child of God, it would be impossible to even know what having a having a positive attitude even means. Peace of mind and heart are so close to becoming obsolete. Wickedness rules this day and age. But God is the “Source” of my peace, my rejoicing and the positive attitude that will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. Praying for lost souls and better attitudes and peace for our country! Love and hugs, Deb…this was a most uplifting and beautiful post! And blessed morning to you, Sue! You are also a ray of sunshine to my heart, sweet friend!
I agree, Kathy! The world is determined to make us anxious and agitated. But God… How He wants to give us His hard to understand peace even when the world in this messy world. And I’m joining you in praying for our nation. Blessings, sweet friend!
I truly believe that maintaining a positive attitude comes with praise! If we wake up every morning and see the things that God has provided and thank him and praise him; we start the day with positivity. We do have so many negative influences on a daily basis what with the social media bullying and also with some of the TV and news media. I love the news stories that show us the wonderful and kind people in this world. I saw so many beautiful stories of people coming together and still doing so in the wake of the Hurricanes, Helen and Milton. We have so much for which to be thankful.
More often than I care to admit, I have had my negative days. Then, I know I have to readjust my attitude—–starting with prayer and confession. Lord, forgive me for this negative attitude I seem to be toting around today. Please help me to readjust myself!! I praise and thank you for all of the ways you have been here for me and for ALL of my blessings. You are an awesome Lord! Amen!
I love 1 Thessalonians 5:11. It is one of my favorites. “So encourage each other to build each other up, as you are already doing.” Encouragement coming from someone is a blessed and welcome “negative outlook” remover!”
Thank you, Deb, for your encouragement each day for all of us in your posts.
And, Kathy, you sure do help in that area too. I cherish your friendship as well as Deb’s.
Love you both!!
I love that, Sue! You’re right … the more we praise Him the more we will experience peace and joy. I’ve had moments lately when I’m surprised by a feeling of lightness. He is lifting me our of the pit of despair and planting my feet on solid ground. Thank you for being one of the people who bless and encourage me with your faith and love. Blessings and hugs, dear friend!
Just the words we need at this contentious and divided world, Deb. True peace only exists when we trust completely in our loving Father, His precious Son and the Holy Spirit. Blessings!
Thank you, Martha! We look for peace in ways that will never provide it. I’m praying that throughout the days ahead many will SEEK Him and learn that His love in our lives is the greatest source of peace we will ever know. Blessings and hugs!
