Promises That Will Give You Hope When You Need It Most
Terrorism, politics, illness, heartbreak, loss, and pandemics…
Sometimes this broken world feels like it’s too much … too painful. Too hard.
Then I stop and remember Solomon’s words:
History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.
Ecclesiastes 1:9
Nothing’s new. It’s all happened before.
No, I’m not trying to totally depress you, especially when I promised you hope.
But the truth is … our hope is not in this broken world. Our hope is in Jesus – the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Jesus stepped into a painfully dark and broken time in history. Roman dominance. Temple dissension. Hurting broken people.
Remember … there’s nothing new under the sun.
But Jesus came to give us something new. A NEW that He alone could give.
New life. Changed life. Purposeful life. Redeemed life. Abundant life. Eternal life.
History may repeat itself. But the truths and promises of the newness you and I have in Jesus are only repeated as they become new lives in people who turned to Him in faith.
And that is what gives us hope. Real, renewing, and lasting hope. Promises of hope!
It’s a hope that reminds us we can trust every promise about Jesus that was ever made. So, let’s surround ourselves with Jesus’ hope today.
Let’s lay down our fears, anger, frustration, and hopelessness as we embrace the truth of promises that are forever true. Promises that give us eternal hope no matter what is happening in the world around us.
Having these promises we can count on in this nothing new under the sun world changes everything. Because under the Son, our everything is full of hope through His grace, mercy, and love.

Praying the Promises of Hope
Father, Thank you so much for loving us so much that the moment we sinned You had a plan to save us. You Word says You love us so much that You gave Your only Son to save us … the highest price You could possibly pay. All because of love!
Thank you for Your Word! You want us to KNOW You. You want us to live each day knowing we are safe and secure in Jesus. He is the WAY of Life, He is the TRUTH we need for Life, and He is LIFE itself. He gives us the promise of eternal life and the blessing of a full and abundant life now.
Today, I come to You for rest. I bring You the junk of my life. Please forgive me for the ways I have failed to follow Your will and change me into the person You want me to be. I believe Your way is best. I want to trust and obey You in everything I do and say. I want my thoughts to be focused on Jesus, the One who is the source of my faith and the One who strengthens me and gives me all I need each day.
So, I’m pausing to thank and praise You! By Your grace, it is well with my soul. Help me live this day for Your glory. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
Friend, I’m asking God to bless you today! I’m asking Him to hold you close and surround you with the love of Jesus as He reminds you that in Him … you have everything you need. His promises are true and His mercies are new every morning. He is faithful to keep His promises of hope.
Always does, but God is still in control!
Praise God! That gives me hope! He is our Hope!

Hi Deb,
I just want to thank you so much for continuing your devotional blog. Now, we don’t go to church but maybe once or twice a year… Long story short, my husband grew up on the Bible belt going to church twice a week and also going to revivals where people spoke in tongues. He even preached himself, in his youth. During that time, his mom was not mentally well. Something happened and now he is not interested in going to church. All the to say, I am one of those cries in church people…. The tears can be from relief of fear, joy in Jesus’s companionship and care, God’s Love, personal realizations… And, I leave feeling uplifted. Your devotionals do the same thing for me. You are so kind and uplifting, even, or maybe especially, when the topic is tough. It’s like a gentle tap on the shoulder to remind me that Jesus is right beside us always and that God’s Divine Love surrounds us and is a part of us. All things I know in my soul already, that sometimes get dulled be the weight of the world. Thank you for helping polish my knowledge and faith again and again. You are truly a blessing.
Love,
Amanda
I’m sorry, Amanda! I’m someone who cries easily at church too. I agree, there are so many emotions … the good and the struggles, and I love that God welcomes them all. We can honestly go to Him with whatever we’re feeling and He will never reject us. His perfect love is the strength and hope I need every day. I am praying for you and for your family. God bless you!
I love all the Bible verses to support our day to day faith when times can be trying. John 14:6 . I am the way, the truth and the life. So many more you shared that gives us the gift of peace, love and everlasting life. Thank you
Sharon, I’m so glad this blessed you! God is so good to give us His Word of promise … promises we can hold close and count on no matter what is going on around us. God bless you!
Oh yes, these verses gave me such hope! Thank you, friend. God bless you.
I’m so glad, Marva! Thank you, my friend! Blessings and hugs!
Thanks Deb. This message on hope, is so timely. The past 3 weeks have been extremely challenging. My son just virtually graduated from college. The stress of everything has caused his already anxious heart to escalate. My life for the past 3 weeks has been sleepless nights, due to his insomnia, excruciating stomach pains and a host of symptoms. We have had 2 visits each to the ER and Urgent Care, Endoscopy, MRI and so on. Needless to say, we have accumulated over $3,000 in medical bills. To some that may not be a lot but, being unemployed adds fire to the fury. As I read this devotional, you remind me of God’s promise in Matthew 28:20, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS EVEN TO THE END,. At times I honestly felt abandoned, as I cried out to God and watch my son agonize in pain night after night and day after day. I at times ask, Father are you listening. It felt like He had abandoned us, and was far away. This is hope, as you remind us of God’s beautiful promises to His children. Please continue to pray for my health and mostly that of my son. Also for a financial breakthrough. God’s got it ALL in control. Thank you
I am so sorry, Launa! I’m praying for you and your son … asking Him to meet every need and cover you both with His perfect peace. May God bless you both! Thanks so much for visiting and for allowing us to pray for you!
