Do you get excited to tell your friends about a new business or product you've tried and loved? Today we're looking at a shy woman who couldn't wait to tell her friends some truly wonderful news.

Do you love to tell your friends about a new business or product you’ve tried that enhanced and enriched your life?

Maybe you’re a professional marketer or someone who can’t keep yourself from sharing wonderful news because you love helping people.

But what about the person who avoids people? Imagine being someone who hates engaging because you’ve failed so often that shame is written all over your face.

That’s the story of the woman at the well in Samaria.

Until she met Jesus who gave her wonderful news for life…

Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!”

John 4:26

She was so excited that she couldn’t keep it to herself…

The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could He possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see Him.

John 4:28–30

Jesus recognized and addressed her shame and discomfort but offered her the life-changing TRUTH—Wonderful News to tell friends.

She wasn’t known for her marketing skills and felt more comfortable away from the judgmental gaze of her neighbors until she heard the news that was too awesome not to share.

Several verses later, John added this about her neighbors…

Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!” When they came out to see Him, they begged Him to stay in their village. So He stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear His message and believe. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard Him ourselves. Now we know that He is indeed the Savior of the world.”

John 4:39–42

Have you met the Messiah, Jesus?

He knows everything about you—your past, present, and future—and yet, He loves and cares about you! I’ll never forget the first time someone looked deep into my eyes and said, “If you were the only person in the world, Jesus still would have died for you.”

I’d never really considered that before.

I knew “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son.” But that God loved me that much.

He knows every one of our flaws and failures and still says, “I am the Messiah. I love you!”

Shhh. Sit quietly and hear Him say those words to you.

Because of Jesus, you and I are more than our failures or successes. We are so precious to God that He meets us where we are and offers us a life-giving relationship that lasts forever.

That’s wonderful news to tell your friends!

Let’s invite them to “come and see” Jesus, the Messiah. Who knows, maybe “many more will hear His message and believe.”

Let’s pray…

A Prayer to Tell Your Friends
Jesus Wonderful News

Father God, You sent Jesus to save us. He is the Wonderful News for life. He is the Messiah who fulfilled Your promises. He is our hope today and forever.

Whatever our past and no matter how ashamed we are before each other, through Jesus, You promise to forgive and cleanse every repentant heart.

And when we ask, “How can I begin to thank You?”, You tell us to share Your truth and love with the people around us. So, I ask You to help me invite everyone I know “to come and see.” I want to encourage people to SEEK You above everything else this world offers.

I want everyone to KNOW You the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to experience the blessing of Your grace, mercy, and love, and be able to say, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard Him ourselves. Now we know that He is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Thank You for making me Your child. Please fill my heart with Your LOVE until it overflows with the fruit of “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” You are Lord of All and Lord of my life.

I pray in the precious name of Jesus, the Messiah my Savior. Amen.

C. S. Lewis wrote…

“He (God) loved us not because we are lovable, but because He is love.”

We are sinful human beings whose behavior is not lovable but God chooses to love us and promises to forgive us when we repent and come to Him with faith in Jesus, the Messiah.

So, tell your friends the Wonderful News about Jesus. Your message doesn’t have to be formal or fancy, just tell them what He has done for you.

Finally…

I thank the Lord for each of you and the many ways you inspire and encourage me with your love for the Lord.

We would love to pray for you.

I needed to hear this today. I don’t share God’s word often enough and He loves me still. I’m not as patient as I should be and He is so patient with me. I’m harsh with others, yet He is kind with me. I don’t deserve His grace and mercy yet He gives it and so much more freely. Where oh where would I be without my God, my Lord, my Jesus???? I cannot imagine. Thank you!
