The Beautiful Truth About God’s Love For You

God's love for His children is really too great to understand but David wrote a Psalm that does it's best to show us who He is and how very much He loves and cares for all who love and trust Him.

God’s love is too great for us to fully understand.

“God is all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere present. God knows us, God is with us, and His greatest gift is to allow us to know Him.”

The Life Application Notes use those words to describe the theme of Psalm 139. And I hardly know where to begin to talk about these powerful words written by David.

Are you ever afraid that if people knew the “real” you, they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with you? I think we all have thoughts that shame us and even a few words and actions that we just don’t want anyone to know about because we fear their disapproval and judgment. And truthfully, “cancel culture” isn’t helping at all.

But God’s love…

  • God knows everything about us and He loves us.

O Lord, You have examined my heart
    and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

Psalm 139:1–2
  • God is with us all the time wherever we are and He loves us.

You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Psalm 139:5–6
  • God chose to create us wonderfully unique and He loves us.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed

Psalm 139:13–16

God allowed David to know that He loves us so much that even though He knew everything about us before He made us … He chose to create us anyway. Although we deserved His judgment, He chose to send Jesus to save us from all of those things that we’re ashamed of and even those we should be but don’t even think about.

He chose to give you, and me, life here and now. He has given us everything we need to SEEK, KNOW, TRUST, LOVE, and OBEY Him so that we might enjoy life with Him in heaven forever and always.

The Triune God—Father, Son, and Spirit loves us more than we know or can possibly understand.

The Father watches over us from the moment of conception through every moment of our lives.

What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

Matthew 10:29–30

The Son, Jesus makes our forgiveness possible so when the enemy accuses us before the Father, Jesus proclaims, “This one is forgiven. This one belongs to me.”

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

1 John 2:1–2

The Spirit is with us to teach us and guide us along the narrow pathway of life.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Romans 8:11

David wrote that God’s thoughts about His children are precious. God’s love—His perfect love casts out all fear. Because when we KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE Jesus we don’t have to be afraid of God’s judgment.

God's love for His children is really too great to understand but David wrote a Psalm that does it's best to show us who He is and how very much He loves and cares for all who love and trust Him.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer of Thanks and Praise for God’s Love

Lord God, it overwhelms my heart to think that You know every little detail of my life … every thought, word, and action, and still You love me. Your Word says that You love so much You go before and behind Your children placing Your hand of blessing on their lives.

You gave Your Son, Jesus, to suffer our punishment so that we might be forgiven of all our sins. You gave and continue to give Your Spirit to help us know, trust, and obey Your will. Yes, all of these things are too great for me to understand.

So, I will live by faith. I thank You for making me wonderfully complex with countless unique traits and characteristics known only to You so that I might accomplish Your plans and purposes for me.

I thank and praise You, Lord. And I give myself fully to You. Wherever I go and whatever I do, I pray that You will help me live for Your glory. Please guide me and give me the strength I need to follow You every day of my life. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever and always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God's love for His children is really too great to understand but David wrote a Psalm that does it's best to show us who He is and how very much He loves and cares for all who love and trust Him.

God’s love for you is greater than you can imagine. You are His precious child.

He loves us individually and wants us to personally respond to His love with a love that consumes our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. He wants to love Him so much that it becomes our heart’s desire to trust and obey Him.

He wants us to be able to pray…

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends You,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Psalm 139:23–24

Because when we go to Him in repentance through faith in Jesus … we are by His grace and mercy continuing on the path of everlasting life.

May the Lord our Creator, Savior, and Ever-present Spirit be with you. May you be blessed and overwhelmed by God’s love today and forever.

  1. Darlene Pankey says:

I have always struggled with the belief that God loves me. I know He loves me, but in my mind I have always thought He loves others more. He blesses others, but not me. He sees others, but not me. He answers prayers, but not mine. At times, I have felt invisible to God, but, thanks be to God, I am learning that God does love me and has always had his hand on me. This devotion today is another reminder. God loves us all and he definitely loves me!

    1. Your words truly touched my heart, Darlene. God definitely loves you! I find peace and hope in knowing that truth. His grace truly is sufficient for all our needs. May He bless you abundantly.
