When you need help because you are suffering turn to God. He is the source of comfort, peace, strength, hope, and love. He will rescue you or help you endure. #Suffering #Hope #Comfort #Blessings

I don’t have to tell you that suffering is hard! Whether it is emotional or physical or both . . . suffering can be overwhelming. It may be that you are experiencing intense suffering right now.

And you’re asking God, through tears, what good could possibly come from this.

Paul began his second letter to the church in Corinth with this testimony:

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die.

2 Corinthians 1:8–9a

I am so thankful the Holy Spirit inspired writers to openly and honestly admit their feelings of being “crushed and overwhelmed.”

When you and I are suffering, when we’re crushed and overwhelmed, we can run to the Lord. We can honestly pour our hearts out to Him. In fact, He tells us that’s exactly what He wants us to do.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Paul went on to tell his readers then and all who have ever read his letters since:

But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.

2 Corinthians 1:9b–10

And I can fully vouch for the truth of those words. I can’t tell you the number of times God has delivered me from the pit of pain and/or despair when I’ve “stopped relying on [myself] and learned to rely only on God.” He has comforted me and drawn me close.

He is our source of help when we are suffering!

When you need help because you are suffering turn to God. He is the source of comfort, peace, strength, hope, and love. He will rescue you or help you endure. #Suffering #Hope #Comfort #Blessings

A Prayer for God’s Help and Rescue When Suffering

Father, when I’m suffering . . . I just want You to help and fix it. I’ll admit that it’s hard to understand the “why” of so many things that happen. Pain. Suffering. Depression. Grief. Illness. Rejection. Abandonment. Sometimes it’s just all too overwhelming. And I’ll admit, I can grow impatient while waiting for You to rescue me.

Please forgive me. I know I can become so focused on the pain in me that I fail to see Your outstretched arms waiting for me. But when I stop relying on myself . . . when I run to You, You are faithful to help and rescue me. Not by taking away every problem but by comforting me, lifting me up, and holding me close—by assuring me of Your loving presence. You are my source of strength when the days are hard. You are my hope when I need help to endure. You are my comfort and help when I am suffering.

So, even when the pain and/or suffering linger, I know You will comfort me as You have in the past. Your loving grace is sufficient for my needs. Please help me lift up the suffering around me through prayer and acts of service . . . help me comfort others in ways that show Your love. I give myself and my circumstances to You. May Your will be done in me and through me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

When you need help because you are suffering turn to God. He is the source of comfort, peace, strength, hope, and love. He will rescue you or help you endure. #Suffering #Hope #Comfort #Blessings

Friend, I want you to know that these verses are the reason I write every day. God has been my source of comfort and help when I was suffering. He lifted me out of the pit of despair. He helped me endure things that I believed were impossible. He strengthened me and gave me hope.

God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4

I want You to KNOW God as your source of help when you are suffering. I want you to know He will comfort you.

I recently had someone challenge my faith in God with this comment, “mythological beings have never been demonstrated to exist in reality.”

This was my reply . . . “I’m sorry you feel that way because once you have truly experienced God’s love and transforming power in your life . . . it’s amazing!”

His love and transforming power are amazing. I pray that You will know all that He has for You today and every day forever and ever.

On today’s note write:

God will help and rescue me with comfort and strength when I am suffering.

May God be with you today and bless you with comfort and strength.

  1. I can most certainly attest to the presence of God’s comfort in times of suffering, Deb. He is the One we can count on to hold us close, to hear our cries, and to reassure us of His great love.

As scripture so rightly puts it, “the joy of the Lord is my strength”. When we are suffering, life is overwhelming….we get anxious and tired and long for peace to return. When we put our trust in the Lord and sometimes we don’t see things changing….it is easy to feel discouraged. For all who believe, we do not carry our burdens on our own. He who loves us, will rescue us out of the pit of despair and send the help that we need. Your message today Deb has lifted my spirits ……God so loved the world that He sent His only son to save us. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus …….may He use each and everyone of us to bring His comfort to those who are finding life tough.
