How God’s Unfailing Love is the Best Way to Heal a Broken Heart
It’s a simple truth that love amplifies our vulnerability.
Sometimes love gives us feelings of bliss and euphoria, and sometimes our love fails and it hurts . . . a lot.
Most of us know what it feels like to experience a broken heart.
I do. My heart has been broken.
Maybe yours has been broken too.
God created us with a need to be loved and accepted. But the rejection of love has been a part of life since Adam and Eve gave in to that first temptation.
There is something important that God wants each of us to remember . . . to KNOW! And that is the truth that you and I are not defined by our rejection. We are not less because someone chose to refuse our love.
So to the:
- girl who’s hurting because her crush is crushing on someone else.
- teen boy who just doesn’t feel he fits in anywhere.
- momma whose child walked away.
- spouse who has been left for another.
- abandoned child, friend, or parent.
If your heart is broken, God wants you to know He is able to heal your pain. He can take the shattered pieces of your heart and reshape them into something beautiful to be used for Him.
God loves you, and He is able to turn your broken heart into something greater than you could ever hope for or imagine.
How do I know? He has done it for me!
Here are just a few of the verses that have healed my heart. If you’d like, read them out loud and make them personal.
♥ Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7
♥ The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:18
♥ And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate [me] from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Romans 8:38-39
♥ Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
♥ For God [loves me] so much that He gave His one and only Son… John 3:16
And…
♥ Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold [me] close. Psalm 27:10
I love this quote…
“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without a compass, God’s love encompasses us completely. … He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
A Prayer Asking God to Heal
Your Broken Heart with His Unfailing Love
Father, It hurts so much! I don’t understand. I loved so deeply and my heart is broken. And even as I type these words I can hear You say, “I understand. My love has been rejected too.” Even though Your love is perfect and unfailing, I know mine is not. But I tried . . . I tried so hard.
Father, I give You the pieces of my broken heart. Please hold me . . . heal me with Your unfailing love. You created us to love You and one another and I know that although we try hard, our love falls short. Please forgive me. Help me love the way You want.
Jesus said, “love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) I want to love like Jesus. Please give me the wisdom and strength I need. I want to be patient, humble, and compassionate. I want to open my heart and let myself be vulnerable with my love. And I believe that with Your help everything is possible. Fill me. Guide me. Help me. Heal me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Friend, if you came to this post, I imagine you’re struggling with a broken heart or you know someone who is. I’m sorry and I’m praying for you.
Please know . . . God wants to help you and He is able to heal you.
He will put the pieces of your heart back together and make you healthier and strong. He will make it possible for you to profess…
I trust in Your unfailing love. I will rejoice because You have rescued me.
Psalm 13:5
Hi Deb, thank you for your faithfulness in relying on Holy Spirit to inspire you in your ministry. I for one value it.
My broken heart happened over last Christmas when the man who promised me so much never kept his promises that had been made before God. Not only that but he also wiped me clean out of all my savings – not a lot but enough to close my account down while being investigated. Have never wept so much as I did at the end of the year. God has promised to restore what has been lost and I am praying for Him to bring my Boaz into my life at the age of 77!
Blessings – Sarah

Thank you, Deb. All of us need comfort. We need to get it and we need to give it. Your words give us the awareness of both.

Thank you for this, I needed it, our family needs to hear these words. Our hearts have been so broken, our 15 year old granddaughter tried to committ suicide 4 weeks ago. God was there protecting her. Long story short, a lot of tears and prayer, ER and treatment center she is alive and working on everything she has learned one day at a time. Praising Jesus! Psalm 13 :5 hit my soul, thank you Lord for rescuing her! Praying that the Lord contines to help and heal her broken heart.
I am so very glad your granddaughter’s life was spared and that she is improving. I’m joining you in prayer for the Lord to give her strength and heal her hurting heart. May God be with you all and hold you close.
I’m sharing this post, Deb. This article is some excellent encouragement for those who are hurting. Have a blessed week, sister.
