When You Need to Know God’s Perfect Love
Do you need God’s perfect love?
Early one Saturday morning I packed my car and drove over the bridge to the other side of the Mississippi River . . . ready to speak to a wonderful group of women, at a beautiful site, about one of my favorite subjects—prayer.
Driving and tapping my fingers on the steering wheel to the beat of one of my favorite tunes . . . I felt the nudge to ask the Lord a question, “What is the one thing You want me to tell these women today? What do you want them to hear?”
And my heart heard, “Tell them I love them.”
I thought, “Really, Lord, we know You love us. Isn’t there anything else?”
And my heart heard, “Someone in that room has been praying for a long time and is doubting my love, tell them I love them.”
Toward the end of my presentation I shared the conversation with the group.
Later as I talked with friends a woman approached me and said, “God told you that for me . . . I know He was speaking directly to me!”
That happened almost 8 years ago. This week, God reminded me with another nudge to my spirit saying, “Tell them I love them.”
So today I’m here to tell you…
- It doesn’t matter what you’re going through, waiting on, or praying about – God loves you.
- It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or what you’ve failed to do – God loves you.
- It doesn’t matter when you were last in a church, lifted your Bible, or fell to your knees in prayer – God loves you.
- It doesn’t matter what the people think about you – God loves you.
David wrote in Psalm 69…
Save me, O God,
Psalm 69:1–2, 16
for the floodwaters are up to my neck.
2Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire;
I can’t find a foothold.
I am in deep water,
and the floods overwhelm me.
Answer my prayers, O Lord,
for Your unfailing love is wonderful.
Take care of me,
for Your mercy is so plentiful.
God loves you…
Not because of who you are, but because of who He is.
God’s perfect love for you is unconditional, faithful, holy, everlasting, and personal.
David also said the following about God’s love:
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You! Psalm 63:3
Your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Psalm 108:4
And Paul said:
May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:18–19
Sinful people have distorted the idea of love believing it has to do with feelings and approval. But perfect love does not always give warm fuzzies nor does it always approve.
Perfect Love Does … what is best, what is true, what is caring and compassionate.
Perfect Love is … forgiving, willing to wait, and willing to give freedom.
Perfect Love is gracious, merciful, and unfailing.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Know God’s Perfect Love
Father God, I thank You and praise You for Your perfect love. You made Your love evident in creation, provision, protection, and most importantly … in Jesus. You show grace and mercy to all who SEEK You … all who KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You by the post of Your Spirit.
I surrender myself to Your perfect love. I give myself to You. Please give me everything I need to SEEK Your TRUTH. Please increase my faith and help me TRUST and OBEY Your will.
And by Your grace, please enable me to live every moment of my life for Your glory. You are so gracious and good. You are LOVE! In Jesus’ precious name, I pray. Amen.
Today, no matter how you feel . . . KNOW GOD LOVES YOU WITH PERFECT LOVE!
Feelings come and go – God’s perfect love never begins and it never ends. His love never changes.
You may not feel it, understand it, or know how to explain it.
But you can believe it and trust it.
Dear one, He wants you to know, believe, and trust His promises.
He says…
I see you. I know you. Everything about you. Your hopes and dreams. Your failures and frustrations. I know your first and your last breath and will be with you always.
I see your day. I see how hard you’re trying. I see you loving and caring for your family. I see you nurturing and encouraging your friends. I see what gives you joy and I see what hurts your heart. (Psalm 139)
My child, I love you. I always have and I always will. Nothing will ever change my love for you. I made you. You are mine. Forever and always.
The Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever and His faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100:5
May the Lord be with you and surround you with His ever-present unfailing perfect love.
We would love to pray for you.

Deb, thanks for trumpeting the truth of God’s unconditional love for us!
Deb, that is such a simple message, but such a necessary one! So many people struggle with wondering if God really loves them. I remember Joyce Meyer saying how she had that same conversation for one of her first messages -her response was the same and so was God’s response to her. Obviously, God doesn’t change from person to person, so His love doesn’t either. Thanks for a beautifully written post. And beautiful memes.
Thank you for this beautiful reminder today. Hearing the words “I love You” fill my heart with a deep reassurance and I nevermore of hearing those words. Blessings as we approach the weekend.
Deb,
This was one of my favorites from your heart.I love this, simply because it is a message we all need to hear, we all need to remember, we all need to embrace, we all need to BELIEVE.
Thanks for pouring out His love in obedience and providing a space of encouragement here.
Blessings!
Dawn
What a great and encouraging word today, Deb!

“…love does not always give warm fuzzies nor does it always approve.”
This is such a hard truth, but truth just the same! I have a friend that is struggling with some of the decisions her adult son is making and this is the truth she needs to know. Thank you for this encouragement. So vital, so timely.
What a sweet reminder this morning. <3 Thanks for sharing. 🙂 I hope that I did your linkup right. I linked up someone else's post that I enjoyed this week. Have a great weekend, Deb. ((hug))

Thank you so much Melanie!
Deb – a simple but needed reminder that God does indeed love us. I also was reminded to obey when He nudges as we never know who needed our words may be. So thank you for both reminders today! It is always good to join you!
Deb, as I am staying with my mom as she recuperates from leg surgery, your words today met me with a warmth and joy I needed to feel. Thanks and blessings!
