When You Need the Father’s Presence, Protection, & Provision

Children want their parents to hold them, comfort them, and protect them. God's children also want His presence, protection, and provision and He is the perfect loving Father.

“Carry me, Daddy!”

“Hold me, Mommy!”

Whether they’re tired, need comforting, or need attention . . . little ones want to be held. Today, I love remembering my children running up to me with arms raised asking to be picked up.

And yet, I can also remember the days I was busy and tired . . . times when I was momentarily tempted to continue with the task in front of me but then I would look down at my little loves and pick them up to hold and comfort them.

We need to know that our Heavenly Father never hesitates. He is never too busy or too tired. He is always ready and willing to carry us when we run to Him for comfort and care.

Psalm 68 invites us to pause and praise God for His presence, protection, and provision.

It reminds us that it’s important to…

Celebrate God’s presence with joy.

Let the godly rejoice.
Let them be glad in God’s presence.
Let them be filled with joy.

Psalm 68:3

Celebrate God’s protection with praise.

Praise the Lord; praise God our Savior!
For each day He carries us in His arms.
Our God is a God who saves!
The Sovereign Lord rescues us from death.

Psalm 68:19–20

Celebrate God’s provision with gratitude.

You sent a heavy rain, O God.
You brought life back to Your promised land when it was dry.
Your people made it their home.
O God, You gave the poor what they needed because You are good.

Psalm 68:9–10 (NLV)

Do you ever worry if God is too busy or your needs too trivial for you to bother Him? Do you imagine Him impersonal or far away?

I imagine everyone has at one time or another…

But those are lies from the enemy himself.

God’s Word to us says that when we need God’s presence…

[We can] come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Philippians 4:6

When we need God’s protection…

“Don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Jeremiah 1:8

And when we need God’s provision…

God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

2 Corinthians 2:8

Our Heavenly Father is not far away, too busy, or too tired. He is with each of us and He invites us to lift up our arms and say, “Hold me, Abba!”

Children want their parents to hold them, comfort them, and protect them. God's children also want His presence, protection, and provision and He is the perfect loving Father.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer for God’s Presence, Protection, and Provision
Asking Him to Hold Us Close

Father, I need You. Please hold me. Your Word tells me that You are with me, that You watch over me and protect me, and that You provide for my needs. I believe that is true but today I need Your reassurance. I feel like the father who said to Jesus, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

I do thank and praise You for the many times I have been blessed by Your presence, protection, and provision in the past. I know You have always been with me. You are a good good Father and I appreciate You . . . who You are and all You do.

Please forgive me for the times I listen to the enemy’s lies and doubt Your loving care. You have shown me repeatedly that I can trust Your promises. You have never forsaken me. You sent Jesus to suffer my punishment so that I might live forgiven and free. And You have promised me an eternal future in Your presence under Your protection and provision.

I thank and praise You and with Your Spirit’s help, I will be filled with Your peace and joy now and always. Amen.

Children want their parents to hold them, comfort them, and protect them. God's children also want His presence, protection, and provision and He is the perfect loving Father.

Do you need the Father to carry you today?

Pray to Him with confidence. Trust Him to hold you close, protect your anxious heart, and provide the strength you need to face the day.

Paul wrote one of my most often shared and favorite promises…

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6–7

That’s an awesome reason to celebrate with gratitude, praise, and joy! Your Father loves you and He is never too busy to hold you, to protect you, and to provide for your every need.

We would love to pray for you.
