What is the truth about faith? That we long for temporary blessings when God wants to give us treasures that start with faith and last forever. May God be merciful to you and bless you.

What is the truth about faith?

When I was growing up almost everyone I knew believed in Jesus and went to church. Today, the world feels very different.

I tried to find research data on the numbers but all I found was information on people’s declared religious affiliation or church attendance. And although that may give us some idea for statistical purposes, maybe the question that defines the truth about faith was asked by Jesus, Himself…

“Who do you say that I am?”

Luke 9:20

Peter replied…

“You are the Messiah sent from God!”

A thousand years before Jesus was born, the Spirit inspired Psalmists to write…

Sing praises to the Lord who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about His unforgettable deeds.

Sing about the glory of His name! Tell the world how glorious He is.

Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!”

Psalm 9:11, Psalm 66:2, Psalm 96:10

After His resurrection but prior to His ascension to heaven, Jesus told those who knew, trusted, and loved Him…

Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 2819

Let’s look at Psalm 67

May God be merciful and bless us.
May His face smile with favor on us.
May Your ways be known throughout the earth,
Your saving power among people everywhere.
May the nations praise You, O God.
Yes, may all the nations praise you.

Psalm 67:1–3

We all want God’s blessings and favor.

But the truth about faith is that the greatest blessing of all comes through Knowing, Loving, and Trusting the Lord Jesus Christ.

Look at just a short list of blessings we have as followers of Jesus…

  • The promise of life with Him in heaven forever. (John 14:23)
  • The presence of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:12)
  • Grace, mercy, and peace. (2 John 3)
  • Forgiveness for our sins. (1 John 1:9)
  • Hope, comfort, and strength. (2 Thessalonians 2:16–17)
  • The promise that He hears and answers our prayers. (Isaiah 65:24)

I want everyone I know to experience those blessings, don’t you?

Paul wrote to the people in Rome…

But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?

Romans 10:14

I’m praying that all of God’s children will talk more about the blessings of Knowing and Loving Jesus than they criticize, judge, or complain. I pray that people will want what we have because they can see that through Jesus we live each day with peace, joy, and love.

What is the truth about faith? That we long for temporary blessings when God wants to give us treasures that start with faith and last forever. May God be merciful to you and bless you.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer to Know and Share the Truth about Faith

Father God, thank You for Your love so great that You gave Your Son to suffer the punishment for our sins. Thank You for His willingness to live among us so that we might KNOW You. Thank You for Your Spirit who makes it possible for us to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You. Thank You for Your Word to tell us the Truth about Faith . . . the Truth about Your love.

Father, we all want Your blessings but some still fail to realize that the best blessings You offer are the blessings You give through Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Through Him, You give us life with You forever. You give us peace, hope, joy, strength, grace, mercy, and so much more.

We worry so much about temporary things and pray for blessings that give momentary pleasure when You want to give us blessings that can never be lost or taken away . . . blessings that forever and always. Please forgive me for my short-sightedness and foolishness.

Please fill me with Your Spirit. I give myself to You and pray that You will use me for Your glory. May I make the name of Jesus known throughout the earth and tell everyone I meet of Your saving power. And show them how to live each day with peace, joy, and love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What is the truth about faith? That we long for temporary blessings when God wants to give us treasures that start with faith and last forever. May God be merciful to you and bless you.

How would you answer Jesus’ question?

“Who do you say that I am?”

My prayer is that rather than divisive doctrinal disputes that discourage, Jesus’ followers will tell people about the blessings they have through Him.

Jesus prayed…

“Father, I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as You and I are one—as You are in me, Father, and I am in You. And may they be in us so that the world will believe You sent me.

May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent me and that You love them as much as You love me.”

John 17:20–21, 23

What is the truth about faith?

Jesus is the Way to the Father. He is the Truth that will not fail and the Life that lasts forever. He is the only way to God the Father. (John 14:6) He is the Messiah, the Savior of the World.

May the Lord bless you and smile on you with favor. May you experience the joy of life and the blessings you have in Jesus.

We would love to pray for you.

  3. Kathy Francescon says:

FAITH is the very core of my existence! FAITH is the portal to all prayers, all praise and the peace my heart feels even in the midst of these current evil and dark times we are shrouded in. FAITH is not having to fear what man can do to me. FAITH is knowing that GOD is real and He is in control, no matter what the world or society says! FAITH is the greatest difference
between being a Believer and a nonbeliever.
Hebrews 11:1 NOW faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
11:6 But WITHOUT FAITH it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God, MUST BELIEVE that HE IS, and that HE IS a rewarder of them that diligently seek HIM. FAITH to me is 11:25!
    CHOOSING rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season;
FAITH is believing the best of God is yet to come, because FAITH WILL LEAD ME HOME!

    1. I’m with you, Kathy! Being a follower of Jesus is who I am. I love Hebrews 11 – what an encouragement to all of us as we look at the legacy of faith that has gone before us. Blessings and hugs!
