Verses to Pray When You Need a Blessing Now

When we need a blessing tend to think of tangible things like health, wealth, and great relationships. But what if the best blessings are the unseen gifts of God that last forever?

Is there anyone who doesn’t need a blessing?

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about needing a blessing?

The words “bless, blessed, or blessing” can be found in the New Living Translation of the Bible 427 times. The first is in the first chapter of Genesis, and the last is in the last chapter of Revelation.

God’s Word is full of the message that God wants to bless us and He wants us to bless each other.

“Blessings” are defined as:

  • God’s divine favor.
  • God’s help or protection.
  • Something that promotes or contributes to happiness and well-being.

We bless one another when we treat each other with kindness and goodness.

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

Matthew 7:12

And we bless the Lord when we praise and glorify Him.

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Psalm 103:1 (NKJV)

But my favorite meaning of the word “blessing” is found in these words of David…

They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their Savior.

Psalm 24:5

The greatest blessing of all is having a “right relationship” with our Lord and Savior.

God gives His children the blessing of deep roots of faith, enduring hope for the future, and immeasurable love that never fails and never ends.

Many of us think of blessings as being tangible … things like wealth, health, and wonderful relationships. But our greatest need is for a blessing that lasts forever … we need the blessing of God’s saving grace through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.

So, let’s pause and thank the Lord for His eternal blessings … the things that are often unnoticed and underappreciated.

Verses to Pray When You Need a Blessing

When we need a blessing tend to think of tangible things like health, wealth, and great relationships. But what if the best blessings are the unseen gifts of God that last forever?

God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:8-10

Father God, thank You for Jesus. He is a blessing beyond comprehension. Through His life, death, and resurrection You poured Your saving grace, mercy, and love over our sin-filled world. We didn’t deserve it and can never be good enough to earn it but Jesus paid the price to make us Your own.

I thank and praise You for the gift of faith. By the power of Your Spirit, please help me “do the good things” You desire and bless the people around me in ways that glorify You. Amen.

First, you must understand this: No prophecy in Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation. No prophecy ever originated from humans. Instead, it was given by the Holy Spirit as humans spoke under God’s direction.

2 Peter 1:20–21

Father, thank You for the blessing of Your Word. Your Spirit breathed Your Truth into the hearts and minds of people You called to write lessons, letters, and promises so that the world might SEEK, KNOW, TRUST, LOVE, and OBEY You.

By the power of Your Spirit, You make Your Word alive and active in our lives to help us grow in faith, have peace in Your promises, and live according to Your will. May I faithfully study Your Word and hold it in my heart cherishing the blessing of Your unfailing love that lasts forever. Amen.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:8–9

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the blessing of peace. Your Word says it is a peace that goes beyond understanding and I know that’s true. I have experienced many times when everything around me seemed like it was falling apart but by Your grace … I was not.

That blessing is only possible through the presence of Your Spirit. So I ask You to help me focus on Your blessings … on the things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and worthy of praise. When I think I need a blessing, please help me remember all of the many blessings I already have. Amen.

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience … Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:12, 14

You chose me! You know me inside and out and You still chose me to be Your child. I am unworthy and You chose me. I am a sinner saved by grace alone through faith alone all because of who You are and all You’ve done.

In response, You ask me to treat everyone with love … to be merciful, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. On my own, I can’t. But Your Word says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I need a blessing of strength to trust and obey Your will so that I might share the blessing of Your love for Your glory. Amen

When we need a blessing tend to think of tangible things like health, wealth, and great relationships. But what if the best blessings are the unseen gifts of God that last forever?

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

2 Corinthians 4:18

Father, even with all of Your blessings … this sinful world is full of troubles. We face pain, illness, loss, rejection, deception, betrayal, and so much more. Between the news, social media, and daily conversations it would be so easy for us to live moody and mournful.

But because of Jesus and Your promises, Your children live each day with hope. We have the assurance of spending eternity in Your presence. We have Your covenant promise that one day there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. We will experience the joy of Your presence and peace.

So, when I need a blessing … I will focus on You, Lord. You are the blessing that fulfills me now and always. In the name of the One who makes all things possible, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

When you need a blessing, may the Lord fill you with His peace, promises, and hope for the future.

We would love to pray for you.

So lovely and so encouraging! The Lord just gave me a blessing through you! It is easy for me to be mournful about all that is happening around me. With all God promises to us, now and in eternity, I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t won’t to reach out and accept those blessings! I thank God, for His blessing of being God! I see, hear, and know showers upon showers of blessings He sends to me everyday! My heart, soul, and spirit can never thank Him or praise Him enough! Without the blessing of believing in God, we would all be living in total darkness. I pray for all those who have no clue what true blessings really are or where they come from.
