Trust Jesus to Give You What You Need Today
I once read the following words written by Louie Giglio…
“Jesus doesn’t just give you what you need; Jesus is what you need. Your heart was created by Him and for Him. You can fight and claw to gain the world, but without Jesus, you will never be completely satisfied.
If there is a growing discontent deep inside your heart—a hunger that hasn’t been completely satisfied by the people, pleasures, parties, material things, or accomplishments—today is the day to open your heart to the idea that it is Jesus that you were made for. But you have to walk away from “less,” and ask Him to become your “more.” Jesus is enough for you, and He is here.”
As you and I prepare to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome in 2025, may we remember…
“Jesus doesn’t just give you what you need; Jesus is what you need.”
Jesus is what we need.
Jesus is more than enough!
He is more than…
Enough love.
Enough peace.
Enough strength.
Enough contentment.
Enough hope.
Enough strength
Enough joy.
When the season’s preparations leave you stressed – Jesus is enough.
When your kids seem determined to “drive mommy and daddy crazy” – Jesus is enough.
When your neighbors are less than neighborly – Jesus is enough.
When the news from your doctor is unsettling – Jesus is enough.
When the next report of terrorism hits the news – Jesus is enough.
When your life gets turned upside down – Jesus is enough.
My goal for 2025 is to replace every anxiety-ridden dissatisfied thought with this…
Jesus is more than enough!
In this fallen and hurting world, the TRUTH is…
You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, His generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just pours out into eternity. Yes.
Philippians 4:19–20 (MSG)
Jesus is the love we crave, the forgiveness we don’t deserve, the strength we want, the peace we need, and the forever future we hope and pray for.
Jesus is everything we need. His promises are true and guaranteed for today and always.
Promises like…
Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20b
And…
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
And one more…
You know when I sit down or stand up.
Psalm 139:2,5–6
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
The Lord of the Universe loves us so much He promised to give us everything we need and then He gave Jesus to save us and be our more than enough.
My friend, Jesus defeated your enemy and mine on the cross. And because he has been defeated, we praise God…
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
1 Peter 1:3–4
Jesus is enough. Jesus is what we need!
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Trust Jesus
Will Give You What You Need
Father God, I come to You daily with a list of wants and too often I act like an indulged child when I don’t get it exactly when I want it. I’m so very sorry. Please forgive me.
You have always been good and gracious. You created a perfect world, and we damaged it with sin. You promised us a Savior, and when the time was right, You sent Your Son, Jesus. You knew that we needed Jesus and promised that if we put our faith in Him our greatest need would be met.
Through Your Spirit, You helped me SEEK, KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST You. You gave Your Word filled with promises. And You faithfully give me courage, strength, peace, hope, and more than enough love to share with others.
The writer of Hebrews told Jewish believers to keep their focus on Jesus so they would not grow weary and give up. Life is not perfect. There are many days we struggle. But You promise that because of Your gracious love, Jesus is enough. Jesus is what I need and it’s in His name I pray. Amen.
Pastor Harry Ironside wrote…
“Jesus Christ…. is the solution to every problem for life, for death, and for eternity.”
So remember, loving parents don’t give their children everything they want but as far as it is humanly possible they give them everything they need.
For our loving Heavenly Father, everything is possible. He will faithfully give His children what they need and what they need is Jesus.
May you and I trust Jesus to give us what we need today, tomorrow, and always.
We would love to pray for you.

Good morning Deb. I wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I appreciate the work that you put in to each of your devotions. God has used them more than once to bless, encourage, and grip my soul. Just this morning, Jesus is enough. He is enough. My husband and I are foster to adopt parents. We have adopted 2 in the last two years. In the spring of this year, God sent us a sibling group of three. They have been terrible!!!!! We keep on trying, teaching, and praying. But none of this seems to help. Please join us in prayer for these children and us. We signed the adoption papers the Friday before Christmas, thinking this would unite better. WRONG. I am almost ready to send them back to social services. Did I mention we are in our mid fifties? Crazy huh. Pray for us. Stressed and discouraged
Praying for you. What you are doing is amazing. I pray that the anxiety the children and you feel will lessen and love and light will grow instead. Parenting is hard work and you have the opportunity to shape these children. It doesn’t always go our way but we try and then try again. 70×7.
Thank you for your kind encouragement, Sheronda. I’m sorry it took me a few days to reply. Many of us have been praying for you since we read your comment. We are also adoptive parents and have experienced some of the challenges of loving and caring for wounded children. I’m specifically praying that the children will be receptive to your love and that the Lord will remove their need to act out in fear. May the Lord be with you and bless you all and give you everything you need each day.
Thank you for praying. I wanted to let you know that we have seen a change for the better in the last few days. If the Lord brings us to mind please continue to pray. God bless. Happy New Year
This is exactly the focus I need and what a great way to begin my day! Thank you, Deb! Joy and peace in Jesus as we close the year and open the new year’s chapter with our eyes and heart on and for Him. Immanuel—God is with us! Blessings!
Thank you, Jane! You are such a kind encourager. May the Lord bless you mightily throughout the coming year!
Jesus is always, always enough, Deb. Such a great reminder to us all as we enter into the New Year. Blessings!
Thank you, Martha! Many blessings to you as we enter into 2025. HUGS!
The ONE who loves us more than anything is enough! Giving HIM first place in our lives is essential for living a life feeling secure. He doesn’t give us everything we want, but it has been my experience that (and believe me on this) sometimes we pray for things that are not in our best interest. Trust HIM. That is what I am working on! Trusting Jesus who knows what and who is best in my life.
Wonderful post. Thank you for the reminder.
And, I will indeed keep Sheronda Edwards and her husband and children in my prayers.
Have a great day, Deb. I appreciate You.
Beautifully said, Sue! Our message this morning was titled, “Jesus Over Everything.” It is the only way for us to experience freedom and peace. Blessings and hugs, my friend! Praying your New Year is abundantly blessed!!
Your site is truly a blessing to me. Been missig you at LCC.

Thank you, Pat! I’m blessed by your kindness. I’ve missed seeing you, too. I’ve been there the last couple of weeks and looking forward to the New Year. December has been a particularly difficult month managing my grief. I’m looking forward to joining the Grief Share Group, too. God bless you, my friend!
