5 Amazing Verses That Will Help You Embrace Grace

What is the meaning of grace? Why is it important for us to embrace grace? Because all that God has done and continues to do for us is received by grace alone. We can't earn it nor do we deserve it.

What is grace and what does it mean to embrace grace?

Max Lucado wrote…

God answers the mess of life with one word, “Grace.”

I’ve often heard it said that grace is God’s “undeserved favor.”

I typically share the following definitions for grace and mercy…

  • Grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve.
  • Mercy is God not giving us what we do deserve.

And one more says…

For Christians, grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.

Those are all helpful but I’ve come to believe that fully understanding God’s grace is beyond our comprehension. Maybe that’s why we call it “amazing grace.”

Rev. Phillips Brooks wrote…

“Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are.”

We deserve God’s wrath and punishment but God chooses to give us His grace. He mercifully sent Jesus to take the punishment we deserve.

No wonder it’s hard for us to comprehend … that’s not the way of the world. Grace is the way of God who is LOVE!

You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth.

Psalm 86:15

Although we may never fully understand it, we can embrace grace in faith and when we do … it’s time to pray and thank God.

Verses to Pray Asking God
to Help Us Embrace Grace

What is the meaning of grace? Why is it important for us to embrace grace? Because all that God has done and continues to do for us is received by grace alone. We can't earn it nor do we deserve it.

“We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.”

Acts 15:11

Father, Your Word says we are saved by Your grace. We are sinners who don’t deserve Your grace and yet, Your love is so great that You offered Jesus to do for us what we are unable to do for ourselves.

Jesus taking our punishment upon Himself is the definition of pure grace. Please help me respond with a humble repentant heart full of faith. Amen.

Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.

Romans 3:23–24

Father, it’s true. Everyone sins. I sin. You clearly shared Your will and the best way for us to live safely with contentment but we have chosen our selfishness and pride over Your command to love and serve. Yes, I have failed to follow Your “glorious standard.” I’m so sorry. Please forgive me by Your grace through Jesus.

Help me embrace grace and give myself completely to You in faith. Help me live forgiven and free by trusting and obeying Your plans and purposes for me. Help me live by faith in Your Son and my Savior, Jesus. Amen.

God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Ephesians 2:8–9

Lord God, thank you for giving me the gift of faith. Thank you for persistently knocking on the door of my heart inviting me to receive the blessings of Your mercy and grace.

It’s so tempting to want to believe that I am “good” … that the “good things” I do make me “worthy.” But I am unworthy. I don’t deserve anything You’ve done for me. I have nothing to boast about in myself but as You open doors and give me opportunities, I will boast about You. I will tell the world all that You have graciously done for me and I will praise You now and always. Amen.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Hebrews 4:16

Heavenly Father, thank you for graciously inviting me to come to You in prayer. You invite me to repent and humbly surrender my flaws and failures to You in faith. You promise me that when I do, You will graciously and mercifully forgive me.

You invite me to come to You with my problems, concerns, and needs. You invite me to talk with You about my life … the good and the not so good. I praise and thank You for all You have done and continue to do for me. By the power of Your Spirit, help me run toward Your love with my guilt and shame. And by Your grace, I will forever thank and praise You for Your generous grace and the gift of forgiveness. Amen.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His faithful love
toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has He removed
our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:8,11–12

Lord God, there are no words that could sufficiently thank You for all You have done for me. There is nothing I can do to repay You.

I admit that I have sinned against You and I repent of my sins. I need Your grace, mercy, and love … I need Jesus who made my forgiveness a free gift of gracious love.

Thank you for making me Your child. Thank you for making it possible for me to embrace grace. Through my Lord and Savior Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

What is the meaning of grace? Why is it important for us to embrace grace? Because all that God has done and continues to do for us is received by grace alone. We can't earn it nor do we deserve it.

Stop for a moment and listen…

God is whispering grace to you.
Huge love.

Grace to cover your worst shame.
Grace to forgive your worst offense.

Enough grace for you.
Enough grace to share.

Grace is all you and I need.

It
Heals
Covers
Releases
and
Saves.

It never fails.
It never ends.

Grace is a person . . . Jesus.

Wonderful words encouragement! Without the “Amazing Grace” of our faithful and loving Savior, I don’t think anyone could ever survive being in this broken, sinful world. ( by grace ye are saved;). Without the Grace of God, how could anyone sustain the hope of Heaven. Without God’s grace to us, how could we ever learn to extend grace to others? “Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace will lead me home.”
Ephesians 3:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
