How Hope In Jesus is the Only Hope that will Last Forever
What is hope? Is it possible to have hope that will last forever or does hope merely ebb and flow?
Hope is defined as:
1. The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.
2. The feeling that something desired might happen. (Dictionary.com)
But for the follower of Christ Jesus, it is…
The confidence that God is loving and that He keeps His promises.
So today, let’s take a closer look at the lasting hope God gives those who trust Jesus.
Christian Missionary, John C. Broger wrote:
“The hope that God has provided for you is not merely a wish. Neither is it dependent on other people, possessions, or circumstances for its validity. Instead, biblical hope is an application of your faith that supplies a confident expectation in God’s fulfillment of His promises. Coupled with faith and love, hope is part of the abiding characteristics in a believer’s life.”
Paul wrote in his letter to Titus:
When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3 4:7
By God’s grace, through the power of the Holy Spirit, hope is the thing that enables us to trust that God loves us and that He will give us what we need to go on each day. Hope gives the courage to get out of bed even on bad days. Hope helps us do the impossible even when we want to quit. Hope is the faith that this is not all there is because God has promised us a beautiful forever future.
Are you hopeful?
I don’t think I’ve always been truly hopeful even though I’ve always believed in Jesus. My hope has grown as my faith has grown into confidence.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
I’ve learned that hope is found in the truth that God’s love never fails and that He always has and always will keep His promises.
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Hebrews 10:23
Even when our circumstances are painful and challenging, the Lord is the foundation of our faith and the source of our hope.
My soul is quiet and waits for God alone. My hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and the One Who saves me. He is my strong place. I will not be shaken.
Psalm 62:5–6
It amazes me how often I’ve foolishly put my hope in all kinds of things that don’t last. But God is loving, faithful and forgiving . . . He promised.
The Lord came to us from far away, saying, “I have loved you with a love that lasts forever. So I have helped you come to Me with loving-kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3
Let’s pray and thank God for His love and for the promises that give us lasting hope…
A Prayer Thanking and Praising God
for Hope that will Last Forever
Father, thank you for Your unfailing love and promises. Thank you for Jesus and for giving me faith in Him . . . trusting all that He has done to defeat the enemy and give me a hope-filled future. Please forgive me for the times I’ve put my hope in foolish things that won’t last. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed pride to lead me to believe that my future is completely up to me. I now know that I am merely a steward of all that You have entrusted to me. Everything in my life, down to the very air that I breathe, is a gracious gift from Your hand.
Lord, You are my foundation and the reason I can live each day with hope that lasts. Your love and promises give me the courage and strength I need when the enemy tries to discourage and defeat me. Your Spirit fills my heart with faith, hope, and love. Thank you for giving me a forever future full of hope. Amen.
When the dark cloud of doubt tosses us into a pit of despair, the temptation to give in to hopelessness can loom large.
But with God, nothing is impossible.
He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you and I can imagine. We can run to Him in prayer. We can live every day in faith with hope as we trust His unfailing forever love. .
May the Lord be with you, strengthen you, and give you hope that lasts.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
2 Thessalonians 2:16–17

Thank you, Paula! I truly appreciate your kind encouragement. God bless you!
Deb, Amen & Amen! Sometimes we look at our circumstances through our eyes rather than focusing on God and His promises when our circumstances are almost overwhelming and we see no end in sight so thank you for this message on HOPE! My husband of 58 years used to be active in the Baptist Church; but over five years ago, joined the Hebrew Roots Movement which is a cult! It is very heartbreaking to deal with.
I’m sorry, Frances. I continue to pray for your husband and your family. We are so blessed by His all-sufficient grace and want everyone, especially those we love, to be blessed by His power and love. God bless you!
