When You Need Someone to Fix Life’s Big Problems

Many of life's big problems can't be fixed ... at least not by us. But there is someone who has saved us from our greatest problem and because of Him you and I can live with hope through faith.

I’m a problem solver. I love finding solutions and fixing problems. I’m entertained by puzzles and creating ways to resolve dilemmas.

Until I can’t.

The truth is that many of life’s big problems can’t be fixed. There are times when our feeble human efforts simply aren’t enough. Times when our worlds are shaken by things that are beyond our control.

I’ve been learning that lesson over the past couple of years. I guess I’ve been learning it much longer than that but the bumps in our recent path have brought me to a place where I’ve had to walk by faith alone with my eyes fixed on Christ alone…

Let us keep looking to Jesus. Our faith comes from Him and He is the One Who makes it perfect. He did not give up when He had to suffer shame and die on a cross. He knew of the joy that would be His later. Now He is sitting at the right side of God.

Hebrews 12:2 (NLV)

And as I’ve focused on Him, He has given me the strength I need to cling to His TRUTH that although we may suffer life’s big problems here we can trust the promise of the joy that will be ours when we join our Savior in the presence of the heavenly Father.

Are you a “fixer” too? Do you tend to be more like Martha than Mary? Do you plan and problem solve and do when you should simply sit at Jesus’ feet and listen?

David wrote…

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:5–6

Whatever the problem or bump in the road, even when it’s one of life’s big problems … our hope is in Christ Jesus. He is our rock and our salvation.

I wrote to this point the day before Rev entered the Lord’s heavenly presence. As I’m working on it again, It’s almost a week later, and I marvel at how the Spirit had given me those words to write knowing how much I would need them now.

They are the very truths I am clinging to … quietly waiting before my God, placing my hope firmly in Him, and keeping my eyes focused on Jesus for He is the One who makes everything possible.

I am trusting that His grace is sufficient. I am holding onto Paul’s words to the Thessalonians…

Dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

1 Thessalonians 4:13–14

Yes, we grieve and our hearts ache. But we grieve with hope knowing that these days are temporary. Jesus has fixed life’s greatest problem. He has defeated sin, death, and the power of the enemy of our souls.

So, when we face life’s big problems … yes, we grieve, but we grieve with hope because we live with great expectation—there is wonderful joy ahead!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead…

1 Peter 1:3–4, 6a
Many of life's big problems can't be fixed ... at least not by us. But there is someone who has saved us from our greatest problem and because of Him you and I can live with hope through faith.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer of Thanks and Hope
Jesus has Fixed the Greatest
Problem of Life’s Big Problems

Heavenly Father, sin and death have been our greatest problems since the first sin occurred in the Garden. It is the source of all our heartache and grief. Our sins. Other’s sins. The world’s sins.

You wanted and created perfection for us and we weakly and willingly give in to the “tempter” of our souls. Yet, because of Your great love for us, You sent Jesus to suffer our punishment and make a way for our salvation. He fixed our greatest problem. He made it possible for us to have a future filled with hope … an eternity in the joy of Your presence.

So, I will wait quietly before You. I will keep my heart and mind focused on my Savior, Jesus. I will cling to Your promises and bring everything to You in prayer. I will trust that the problems of this life are temporary but Your love lasts forever.

By Your grace and mercy, Father, hold us close when we struggle with life’s problems and we’re tempted to try to fix them with worldly solutions. Please hold us close when our heart’s hurt and we need to be reminded of the hope we have in Jesus. Please hold us close and give us everything we need to trust and obey. Amen.

Many of life's big problems can't be fixed ... at least not by us. But there is someone who has saved us from our greatest problem and because of Him you and I can live with hope through faith.

I want to close today with a few of Rev’s favorite verses…

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son.

Ephesians 1:3–6

May our gracious God be with you and bless you and help you remember that He is the One who has “fixed” life’s biggest problems and He is the One to whom we can run with every need.

We would love to pray for you.

  8. Greetings, Deb,
All the promises of God are Yes and Amen in Jesus Christ. Let’s resolve to turn away from searching to anything or anyone else to solve problems. Look to Yeshua as your answer. God has a solution, before you have a problem.
“ And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver, you, and you shall glorify me.” ~ Psalm 50:15.
What we think is about to go over our heads is already under our feet- God has this. He is Lord of the storm. He is the Greatest problem solver. He is the Great I Am. Exodus 3:13-14.
One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible: Proverbs 3:5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Deb, may you have a Blessed and Happy Resurrection Sunday!

I can’t pretend to know how you feel today as you work your way through grief. I can tell you how I felt when my Mom went to be with the Lord. She always called it graduation day. I was sad for me because I would miss her, but I never felt sad for her. The last time I saw my Mom she asked me to promise I would meet her in heaven. I’m determined to keep my promise.
May our great God comfort you and give you renewed strength each day. Know that you are still here and blessing so many with your wisdom, understanding, and prayers. Thank you. ❤️🙏🏻
