Why You Can Pray and Trust God Through Every Difficult Battle

There are battles in the spiritual realm that bleed over into the natural realm but God tells us to pray and trust as His best line of defense for our souls. #SpiritualWarfare #Faith #BibleStudy #Blessings

As I sit down to write this, I’ll admit that I’m having a bit of trouble concentrating.

If I just look around at my little corner of the world . . . everything looks fine. My greatest inconveniences this morning were that the grocery store was out of a few of the things I needed, I got a little light-headed wearing my mask, and there was a glitch at the register for the person in front of me and it took me 45 minutes to check out.

And I’m humbled because those are truly just inconveniences…

Yesterday, August 26th, 13 American service members and an untold number of innocents lost their lives in Afghanistan. I keep thinking about the people all over the world who are suffering persecution, who are afraid to leave their homes, who are living under terrorist regimes, who are facing illness, who don’t have clean water to drink or food to eat, or are facing devastating anguish or affliction.

I imagine much more will have occurred by the time this publishes.

As I read this last chapter of 2 Thessalonians today, Paul’s call to prayer practically jumped off the page:

Dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. Pray, too, that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone is a believer.

2 Thessalonians 3:1–2

Yes, we are living through a time when it feels like evil is running rampant. But God has given us a powerful line of defense.

We have His promise to hear our prayers and give us strength! We can pray and trust God!

But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you. May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:3–5

The battle is real! It is real in the spiritual realm and it pours over into the natural realm as well.

But God!

God is faithful! He gives strength! He guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. He invites us to pray and trust!

Pray that the message of His love will spread rapidly and be honored. Pray that God will rescue us from those who pursue evil against those who believe. Pray for strength and a hedge of His protection around our hearts and minds. And pray for everything we need to honor the Lord with hearts full of love.

A Prayer to Trust God Through Every Battle

Father, everywhere I look the battle persists. All around the world, people are suffering. I can only begin to imagine how it hurts Your heart to see the misery people endure in the natural realm. And when I think of the attacks on the hearts and minds in the spiritual realm . . . Lord, we need You!

I pray that Your truth will be lifted up all over the world. I ask that through Your Spirit, many will be encouraged to receive Your love . . . to pray and trust Your Way.

Please rescue Your people from evil. Please guard our hearts and give us strength. Please give us a patient understanding of Your timing and give us whatever we need to endure whatever You allow.

I believe Jesus is the Truth who sets people free. I believe He is the Way of salvation. I believe He is the source of eternal life.

When the battles around me overwhelm me, please give me everything I need to keep my focus on Jesus, the source of my faith, and the strength of my heart.

Finally, I humbly pray the words of Jesus . . . may Your name be kept holy, may Your will be done. Please forgive me and give me what I need. Please strengthen me to resist temptation and rescue me from the evil one. I ask all this in the name of Jesus, whose death and resurrection make all things possible. Amen.

The Life Application Bible Notes remind us that…

Our main defense is prayer that God will protect us from the evil one and that He will strengthen us.

We can, with God’s help, pray and trust Him to give us everything we need.

Whatever battle you’re facing today, you can take it to the Lord in prayer. And join us on the Blessing Counters Prayer Page, we would love to pray for you.

On today’s note write:

When life is difficult and the battle is hard . . . I will pray and trust God.

May God bless you and give you everything you need to fight your battles today . . . that He will help you pray and trust.

  1. Prayed hard with you today, Deb. This world has lost its mind and, I’m afraid, its soul. We must pray and trust that God’s will will prevail.

    1. Thanks, Sarah! I’m not typically that patient. I would usually try to find another lane. But I had unloaded a full cart and it kept looking like they were getting the register repaired any second. I was thankful that the cashier and the gal in front of me were both very nice and good to talk with. Thanks for your encouragement. Blessing!

Thank you Deb, your post has filled me with hope. Yes our world seems to be lost…there is conflict and destruction all around us. People are hurting, hearts are broken from the strain of it all. The enemy appears to be causing so much confusion BUT he is not in control….our Lord God and saviours truly is and when we lift up our prayers to Him, He hears them. He guards our hearts and orders our steps. We have nothing to fear, when we trust in the Lord. Father enlighten our minds to do what is good. Help all those who are suffering around the world. Help us to help our brothers and sisters. Please intervene Lord and change the hearts of all those who do not know you. Bring peace! Amen!
