God Keeps His Promises Giving Hope Now and Always

Have you ever wanted to sit quietly alone with Jesus and hear Him share His heart with you? When we're afraid, confused, anxious, or sad, we need the assurance of God's promises to give us hope.

Have you ever wanted to sit quietly alone with Jesus, just to hear Him share His heart with you?

When you and I are afraid, confused, anxious, or sad, we need the assurance of God’s promises to encourage us and give us hope.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read the next three chapters of John’s Gospel. Each time, I imagine myself sitting with Jesus and listening to Him pour out His promises, giving me the hope He wants me to hold dear while I wait for Him.

There were many things Jesus’ disciples did not understand. Where was He going? Why was He going? I’m sure they were wondering … what does it all mean for us?

I see Jesus looking at them with overflowing love, saying…

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”

John 14:1

Have you ever told a child you know they don’t understand right now, but they can trust you? You do your best to assure them you have a plan based on your love for them.

Jesus continued by sharing God’s loving plan…

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

John 14:2–3

For three years, He had been telling them about the Father. Now, it was time for Jesus to return to Him and prepare for us.

Verse three is one of my favorite promises of hope in Scripture…

“When everything is ready, I will come and get you so that you will always be with me where I am.”

Years ago, we had friends whose young son died of leukemia. During his last moments here, he sat looking out the front window over the fields. Suddenly, he began pointing and shouting, “Look, Mommy! Look!”

When his mom asked him what he saw, he replied, “Don’t you see Him, Mommy? It’s Jesus. Jesus is coming.”

That’s Jesus’ hope-giving promise…

Jesus said, “I will come and get you.”

Death is not stepping into the dark unknown. For everyone who KNOWS, LOVES, and TRUSTS Jesus, death means going home with the One who gave His life for us.

When the Lord promised, “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6) and “Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20), He meant it! He keeps His promises and gives hope to everyone who places their faith in Him!

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

Hebrews 10:23

We can confidently trust that when the Lord makes a promise, He’s saying, “Trust me. I can do the impossible, and I will accomplish this.”

Have you ever wanted to sit quietly alone with Jesus and hear Him share His heart with you? When we're afraid, confused, anxious, or sad, we need the assurance of God's promises to give us hope.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer Thanking God for Keeping His Promises
Giving Hope to All Who Trust In Him

Father, You promised to send a Messiah to crush the enemy of our souls, and You did. You sent Your Son to suffer our punishment and set us free.

You promise that You are loving and compassionate, and nothing can snatch Your children out of Your hand. You told us that You are gracious and unchanging. And through Your Spirit, You give us peace, strength, courage, and the hope of being in Your presence now and forever.

Thank you for defeating the things working to rob us of freedom. This day, I thank You with all my heart for defeating death and making it possible for me to cling to Jesus’ promise to come and get me when my home with You is ready.

Lord, I believe You are with me. I trust that because of You, I can live each day with hope. I rely on Your promises because Your Word and my life tell me that You are the Way, Truth, and Life.

Because You are faithful and gracious, I give You my troubled heart and ask You to fill it with all I need to live purposefully full of faith, hope, and love.

I love You, my strength and my protector. Thank you my Lord and my Redeemer. Amen.

Have you ever wanted to sit quietly alone with Jesus and hear Him share His heart with you? When we're afraid, confused, anxious, or sad, we need the assurance of God's promises to give us hope.

Dwight Moody wrote…

“God never made a promise that is too good to be true!”

If the Lord promised it, we can count on it.

So, hold this promise in your heart now and always…

I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

John 14:3

I can only imagine what a day that will be.

Don’t let your heart be troubled. Don’t be afraid. Trust God’s promises. He is faithful yesterday, today, and forever.

We would love to pray for you.

  1. Perfect timing Deb. God is just putting me through a faith trial by allowing my job to be terminated. In all these past decades, I looked at this job as God’s presence to me. He saved it several times when there was a chance to lose it. So, when the threat came this time around, I counted on Him to keep it again. Then came the morning I went to work and an email was waiting for me that my job is gone. Then I learned that instead of providing a severance pay, they will force me to retire with a pension that is 1/3 of my former salary.
But more than the loss of job, feeling let down by God was the worst. I was reeling from the void of protection. But slowly understood that He wants to turn my heart and eyes to Him.
In the past couple of years I put God in the backburner. Allowed life’s events to take priority that took up my time and energy. And while I continued listening to sermons, I haven’t open the Bible in these past couple of years.
Not the first time in my life that God uses suffering, adversity to turn me around. He knows this is what gets my attention the best. Since I’m the sole provider due to my husband’s inability to work, it hurts that much more.
But a sermon about Joshua and Jericho reminded me that I too, have been staring at the walls of this adversity too long. It’s getting more impenetrable by every passing second. But Joshua seen the Commander of the heavenly army when he lifted his eyes from Jericho. And it wasn’t Joshua who brought down those walls but God. God used at other times in recent years the parable of Jericho during my difficulties, so it has a lot’s of meaning for me.
Yet, despite all this, the fear is tangible and gripping. Since I know that I was unfaithful to God, there is no reason for Him to care or help me in this situation. And of course all this, brings a slew of doubts and unbelief. That in turn reminds me of what James said that the person who doesn’t believe shouldn’t think that her prayers are heard or answered.
So all this puts me into a quagmire. One minute I listen to lift my eyes to the Lord where my help is coming from – but the next minute, that since I’m struggling with my faith and beliefs, I shouldn’t expect any response.
I believe that God’s ultimate goal is to reestablish a relationship with me. At this moment I’m wrestling with contradictory emotions – disappointment, anger, fear, being lost, yet wanting to hold unto hope that it’s true that God keeps His promises….
Please keep me/us in your prayers…

    1. Its all about God’s will for your life, I have the same situation I have been at my company for 25 years now and my boss is retiring and the company will be dissolved. I hate change but I believe God has another plan for me and you as well. Keep praying and have faith.

    2. I’m so sorry, Gaby! I promise the Lord cares and He has a plan for your future. We’re praying for you and asking Him to give you His peace, strength, and direction and you move ahead on this journey! God bless you!

  2. Dear Deb, I am grateful for all of your posts. I love your wisdom. Today something you said is something I needed to hear. I have been struggling with sitting still and taking time to REALLY be with Jesus. I don’t know why it has been so hard for me lately. At one time I had no trouble with being with Jesus. My old mind just wants to wonder and fret!!
When you said that you imagine yourself sitting with Jesus, listening to him pour out his promises to give you the hope that he wants you to hold dear while you wait for him, it struck a chord with me. I realize that I just don’t take time to LISTEN TO HIM. Too much mind wondering and not being in the present with HIM. Thank you so much for this insight.
May you have a very blessed and safe weekend. Much love to you.

    1. Every teacher I had in school told me that I talk too much! I want to listen to the One who is my peace, strength and hope now and always. I need His Spirit’s help every day! Blessings to you!

  3. JoAnne Hogue says:

He makes a way where there ain’t no way. Less money means more God. Losing things of this world just means an opportunity to gain more things of heaven. Talk to Him about it. I think that’s all He wants, then Let Him lead the way. He knows a way we don’t.

    1. Amen, JoAnne! His way is always best. When I feel lost, I want to focus on following Jesus. God bless you!

  4. Martha Orlando says:

That story you told of the little boy seeing Jesus coming toward him as he is dying says it all. Yes, we know we can trust God’s promises, now and forever. Blessings, Deb!

    1. Amen, Martha! Every day now and forever is better when we know that God keeps His promises! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. Blessings!
