You Can Rely On God’s Faithfulness Now And Always
When life is hard and it feels like our prayers are bouncing off the ceiling the enemy of our souls plants his favorite seed of doubt…
“Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1)
And behind those words are the subtle doubt enticing questions…
- Does God really care?
- Is God really gracious, merciful, and loving?
- Can you really trust God’s faithfulness?
Jeremiah wrote these words after the Babylonians attacked, tortured, killed, and captured God’s people in Jerusalem…
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
Lamentations 3:22–23
His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
The Spirit inspired Jeremiah to remind God’s people that even when it’s hard to understand His ways, we can always trust God’s faithfulness and love. We can live with strength and hope because He faithfully keeps His promises.
The enemy wants us to be doubtful, discouraged, and hopeless because we’re much easier to test and tempt when we are questioning God’s power and love.
So, I thought it might be helpful to look at what God’s faithfulness means for you and me.
I started by looking at the definition of the word faithful and I found…
- Being true to one’s word, promises, vows, etc.
- Being loyal and trustworthy.
- Being firmly devoted to a person, cause, or idea.
With synonyms like – dependable, loving, steadfast, and reliable.
From Genesis through Revelation, we are assured of God’s faithfulness.
Isaiah wrote…
The mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
Isaiah 54:10
John wrote…
So [Jesus] the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
John 1:14
And one of the Psalmists wrote…
For the Lord is good.
Psalm 100:5
His unfailing love continues forever,
and His faithfulness continues to each generation.
Yes, we can trust God’s faithfulness, grace, mercy, and love. He showed us just how much He loves and cares when He sent Jesus to suffer our punishment and save our souls.
So, what does that mean for us…
Paul wrote…
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
And because Our Savior is with us and within us we can share His faithfulness by loving Him and loving others.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Luke 10:27
May we surrender our lives to His love and invite Him to help us rely on His faithfulness to help us love like Jesus.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer To Rely on God’s Faithfulness
to Help Us Love Like Jesus
Father God, how can I begin to thank You for all You have done for me? Your faithfulness is evident in everything You do. You keep every promise You have ever made. The best one being the promise You made to send a Savior who would redeem us from our sins. And Jesus came faithfully keeping Your promise. I can rely on You!
You promised to give us everything we need. (Philippians 4:19) Jesus promised to be with us always … until the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20) You promise to forgive us when we confess our sins to You. (1 John 1:9) You promise to walk with us through life’s storms. (Isaiah 43:2) You promise to give us wisdom when we ask. (James 1:5) Jesus promised to give us peace. (John 14:27) And promised that nothing can snatch us out of Your hand. (John 10:28)
You are faithful in all You do. Your love lasts forever. And by Your grace, I will live my life trusting Your Son, Jesus, who loved us and gave Himself for us. I give myself to You, Lord. Please enable me to love the way You desire … help me love like Jesus.
Give me the courage and strength I need trust and obey Your will. You are Lord of all. You made it possible for me to KNOW and LOVE You. I thank and praise You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Corrie Ten Boom wrote…
“In God’s faithfulness lies eternal security.”
Isn’t that awesome news! We can rely on Him now and forever.
Author Graham Cooke wrote…
“God cannot change. He cannot be anything other than who He is. Out of His love and His promises, you were selected as His treasure. God’s faithfulness has been the bedrock of His dealings with humanity throughout time.”
Spend time thinking about that today. In His unfailing love and faithfulness, God chose you as His treasure. When you’re tempted to focus on your weaknesses and failures … remember who calls you His masterpiece.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:9–10
And when the enemy tempts you with doubt, remember that God’s faithfulness is more than enough for whatever lies before us.
“God’s strength behind you, His concern for you, His love within you, and His arms beneath you are more than sufficient for the job ahead of you.” ~ William Arthur Ward.
May the Lord bless you and give you everything you need to rest in the sweet knowledge of His love and faithfulness.
We would love to pray for you.

Thank you, Deb! I so needed this today! Sometimes weariness creeps in so slowly and we are not really aware it is happening, until we are exasperated and that tiny seed of doubt springs up. My ground has become a bit fallow as of late. So much going on in the world around us and in my own little personal world too. Thank you for the reminder that God is faithful forever and He loves me! He is so kind, giving and has to be so patient with us at times. But truly His mercies are new every morning! Praying God’s mercy for all the weariness that sometimes creeps in. Have a blessed and enriched day with our merciful Lord and Savior. Special prayers for you, Deb and a good morning Holy Week, to our wonderful friend, Sue!
Love you!
My heart’s thoughts, too.
Thank you for focusing us on God’s faithfulness.
💗🙏
Kathy,
I pray that you have a good Holy Week too. I know that you have had so much to deal with lately and I pray that things will start to smooth out and be better for you.
You are an inspiration to me too. I am grateful for our friendship. God bless you and keep you in His perfect peace.
You have been going through a hard season. It is a blessing to know that the Lord understands our pain and lovingly holds us close. I’ve been praying that the Lord will place a hedge of protection my thoughts to keep doubt and fear at bay. I will be praying that for you too, my friend. Blessings and love!
I enjoy the emails
I’m so glad, Dick. Thank you for taking the time to let me know. God bless you!
God is so faithful and the ONE we can trust and count on at all times. I always think of the song,
“Great Is His Faithfulness.” I sing it often to myself. And His faithfulness is with you as you go through your pain.
It is so easy to slip up and let the taunts of the enemy grab us when situations let us down. I am grateful for the things you said in this post as a reminder to me of how the enemy can do that. I think of the verses in the Bible about keeping on ALL of God’s armor. We sure do need it these days.
I am so sorry for the loss of Sadie. I know how bad it hurts at anytime, but especially now that you have already been grieving the loss of Rev.
You know that you are in my thoughts and prayers daily and you have the wonderful support of all of us. We all love you Deb. You give so much to all of us.
I pray that you can have many peaceful moments and that you feel the presense of our Savior so strongly. Love and hugs!
And, like Kathy, I wish you a good Holy week.
Thank you, Sue. I love Great is His Faithfulness, too. In fact, I’m singing it in my head at the moment. Thank you for your kind words about Sadie. I do miss them both so much. God opened a door for me to get a little Maltipoo puppy last week. So, I have a new little companion to keep the house from feeling empty. God is holding me and giving me strength. Love you, sweet friend. Have a wonderful day!
So true! Thank you for your beautiful insights and encouragement, you have a gift for expressing things so well, keeping it real. It’s so comforting to know, when our prayers are” bouncing off the ceiling “ others understand that – it’s not just me. I just said that to Father this morning- even though I feel as though I am talking to thin air- I know He hears me, He always hears me. I love your posts and so appreciate all you are doing for the body of Christ.x
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement, Carolyn. I love spending time in the Word and writing these posts … and I especially love that through them the Lord has blessed me to connect with wonderful people like you. God bless you!
What beautiful prayers and words to help me rely on God’s faithfulness now and always. I especially loved the prayer by William Arthur Ward knowing God’s strength is behind me, His love within me, and His arms beneath me to help me for whatever is to come. I will pray that daily to remind me that God is always with me. Thank you Deb have a blessed day.
I loved the word of William Arthur Ward also. There is so much peace in remembering that we are completely surrounded by the Lord’s love. It’s what makes it possible for us to say, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” God be with you and bless you, Ana. Thanks for you words of encouragement.
