How to Be Safe and Secure Forever and Always

We're born with a need to feel safe and secure and it's something we continue to need throughout our lives. There is only one way in an ever-changing world to be confident that the future is certain.

One of our greatest needs as children is our need to feel safe and secure. I imagine it’s something you still want and need today … whatever your age.

Psalm 125 begins with the following…

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion;
they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

Psalm 125:1

The world tells us that safety and security are found in power, prosperity, and popularity. But look around. In truth, those things are unreliable and unpredictable. There is no guarantee that any of those things will provide future safety or security.

No matter how hard we try this life will throw changes and challenges our way … inevitable situations like current world events can leave us feeling unstable and insecure.

But by God’s grace, there is a way for us to face whatever the future brings with courage and strength…

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

Psalm 18:2

If we want to live life knowing we are eternally safe and secure, we need to turn to God’s Word knowing we can trust His promises and build our hope on Jesus, the “Rock of our Salvation.” (Psalm 18:46)

Isaiah wrote…

In that day, He will be your sure foundation,
providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.
The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.

Isaiah 33:6
The Lord God is our sure foundation.

We can place our complete hope and trust in Him because…

  • He is unchanging.

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

James 1:17
  • His unfailing love lasts forever.

Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.

Psalm 89:2
  • His Word is TRUTH.

Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

Proverbs 30:5
  • And He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE who gives us ETERNAL LIFE.

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1 John 5:11

Absolutely nothing in this life can defeat those whose hearts are secure in the Lord, our Rock. Although this life is constantly changing, His children are safe and secure because He promises to hold on to them and never let go.

The Lord God inspired Isaiah to write…

For I hold you by your right hand—
    I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

Isaiah 41:13

And Jesus promised…

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.”

John 10:28–29

There is only one way to be safe and secure forever and always and that’s by trusting the Lord, our God. He is our firm and lasting foundation and we can rest in His unfailing love.

We're born with a need to feel safe and secure and it's something we continue to need throughout our lives. There is only one way in an ever-changing world to be confident that the future is certain.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer to Be Safe and Secure Forever

Father God, there is so much uncertainty in this life. I confess that I have given in to fear of unknown possibilities. Even though Your Word has told me repeatedly not to be afraid. Please forgive me for looking for my safety and security from the world rather than from You.

I want to trust You completely and build my life on Jesus, the Rock of my Salvation. He alone can give me the firm foundation that lasts eternally. I can live without fear when my hope is in Him.

By the power of Your Spirit, please help me SEEK, KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You above anything and everything else in life. Give me a heart that loves to study Your Word so that I might stand on Your promises and fight the attacks of the enemy with the Sword of the Spirit.

With Your Spirit’s help, I will cling to Jesus’ promise that He gives eternal life to all who KNOW and TRUST His voice … those who follow Him in obedience. I can’t do it on my own. I am weak and foolish but I believe that You will give me all I need when my heart and mind are fixed on You. So, I surrender myself to Your care trusting that because You are gracious and merciful, loving and caring. You are able to keep me safe and secure.
Thank you, Lord, forever and always. Amen.

We're born with a need to feel safe and secure and it's something we continue to need throughout our lives. There is only one way in an ever-changing world to be confident that the future is certain.

Jesus’ half-brother Jude wrote…

I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.

All glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.

Jude 1:2, 24

It’s easier to be short-sighted, isn’t it? I have a tendency to look at what’s right in front of me and worry about tomorrow. But when I look at life’s challenges that have the potential to make me feel insecure with an eternal perspective, I know I can trust God’s promises and live one day at a time safe and secure in the care of my Lord and Savior.

And I believe that’s true for you, too.

May the Lord bless you with peace as you live each day knowing that in Christ Jesus you have everything you need to feel safe and secure.

We would love to pray for you.
