Speak Out! You Have an Important Truth to Share

| | |

Sharing is caring!

If you have been forgiven. If you have been saved through Christ Jesus. If you have been the recipient of God's mercy and grace. Speak out! You have a story to tell!

Has the Lord redeemed you?
Then speak out!

We don’t know who wrote Psalm 107 but those are the words of the second verse, right after…

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 107:1

If you have been forgiven. If you have been saved through Christ Jesus. If you have been the recipient of God’s mercy and grace. Speak out!

Tell your story.

Paul wrote…

But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?

Romans 10:14

It’s funny. Okay, maybe not funny. Most of us just want to tell the pretty positive pieces of our stories. However, there are times when it’s necessary for us to tell the difficult parts so that we can truly shine the light of our God’s goodness and grace.

If we want to tell about the way He has rescued us from our wilderness wanderings . . . we have to admit we were wandering in the wilderness.

Some wandered in the wilderness lost and homeless.
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and He rescued them from their distress.

Psalm 107:4, 6

If we want to share how He has saved us from the darkness of depression and misery . . . we have to be honest about our troubled hearts and God’s power to bring peace.

Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom,
imprisoned in iron chains of misery.
He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom;
    He snapped their chains.

Psalm 107:10, 14

If we someone to know how God can save them from the power of sin . . . we have to talk about God’s power to turn around a life headed in the wrong direction. A life like ours.

Some were fools; they rebelled
and suffered for their sins.
He sent out His word and healed them,
snatching them from the door of death.

Psalm 107:17, 20

If we want people to know about His ability to provide, guide, calm, etc. . . . we have to tell our personal stories and proclaim His love and glorious acts of goodness and mercy.

Let them praise the Lord for His great love
and for the wonderful things He has done for them.
Let them exalt Him publicly before the congregation
and before the leaders of the nation.

Psalm 107:31–32

We each have a unique story to tell. My story might touch the hearts of some while yours will leave an imprint on others.

So, let’s go back to where we started…

Has the Lord redeemed you?
Then speak out!

Psalm 107:2
If you have been forgiven. If you have been saved through Christ Jesus. If you have been the recipient of God's mercy and grace. Speak out! You have a story to tell!

Let’s pray…

A Prayer for Strength to Speak Out for God’s Glory

Father God, thank you for redeeming me. Thank you for Jesus’ sacrifice of love. He gave Himself that I might be forgiven and free from the power of sin and death. By Your grace, You heard my cry and pulled me out of the pit of despair. You planted my feet on Jesus the solid rock. You have given me a reason to worship and praise You every day of my life.

You inspired David to write, “Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 40:3) I want that, Lord. I want people to see You in me. I want them to know my story and want what I have. I want them to hear my story and realize that You not only have the power but that You are the power to save eternally.

Please help me tell my story for Your glory. I don’t want anyone to see it as something I’ve done. I want my story to be less about me and all about You. I want to proclaim with John the Baptist, “[Jesus] must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” (John 3:30)

May this be my prayer…

Let [me] praise the Lord for His great love
and for the wonderful things He has done for [me].
Let [me] exalt Him publicly before the congregation
and before the leaders of the nation. (Psalm 107:31–32)

Let me praise You with all that I am now and forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

If you have been forgiven. If you have been saved through Christ Jesus. If you have been the recipient of God's mercy and grace. Speak out! You have a story to tell!

Peter wrote…

But respect Christ as the holy Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have, but answer in a gentle way and with respect.

1 Peter 3:15–16a

Let’s tell our redemption stories! Let’s speak out!

I’ve shared often that I was raised in the church. I’ve believed in Jesus for as long as I can remember. But oh my, did He have a work to do in me. You see . . . I believed in Him as my eternal Savior but I didn’t trust Him as the daily Lord of my life.

And because His love is so great, He allowed me to go through several situations where I either had to trust Him moment by moment or give up! Praise God! He worked in me and taught me that He is greater than whatever is going on in my life and that when I SEEK Him above everything else in life He will give me everything I need to live with faith, hope, and love one day at a time.

That’s my prayer for you…

May you SEEK, KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE the One who is greater than your circumstances. May He help you KNOW and TRUST His power to save and help you share your testimony for His glory.

We would love to pray for you.

Amen! Amen! I can so relate to believing in God for all my life, but didn’t realize for most of my life, that I was living for myself and not for Him! Psalm 107 could have been written just for me! But praise God that He never lets go and now, yes indeed, I can sing and shout out His wonderful works!
107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and DECLARE HIS WORKS WITH REJOICING!
“MY STORY FOR HIS GLORY.” WOW DEB! What an awesome quote! One for the frig and to pray daily!! You are such a wonderful inspiration! I love you, dear friend and teacher!

  3. Ana Cordova says:

Thank Deb for sharing with us how you began trusting and believing in our Lord. I too was raised to believe in God, go to church, and follow his commandments. But I was not fully committed to him so I can fully trust and believe in him other than going through the things I was taught by my mother. Until I had a serious wake up call in life that made me realize I am a lukewarm Catholic. Only would seek him in difficult times and didn’t give myself to him fully. Since my incident I know our Lord was with me otherwise I don’t know if I would have pulled through. That made me change my whole life to want to praise, glorify, thank, and love him everyday. So I am growing in his grace, peace, love and mercy to be able to increase my faith. Talk with him daily asking him for forgiveness and doing his will so that I can see him someday in his kingdom.
    Have a wonderful blessed day!

My gratitude is beyond measure. Trials teach trust and the best blessing of all is that they bring me closer and closer in my relationship with God. That is my goal; to be closer to God and to trust Him more and one day to be in Heaven so I can be with Him.

    2. I’m with you, Sue. It is through difficult circumstances that the Lord has taught me that I can trust Him to keep His promises. I used to be terrified even thinking about bad things happening. Now, when fear hits my heart and give it to the Lord and ask Him to give me strength and see me through the day moment by moment. He has never failed me. I truly am blessed by your comments. Blessings and hugs!
