This is Strong Evidence to Believe in Jesus for Life

What is faith?
The writer of Hebrews defined it like this…
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Hebrews 11:1
The Collaborative International Dictionary says…
“It is believing the truth of what is declared by another, resting solely and implicitly on his authority and veracity; reliance on testimony.”
I have faith in Jesus because I trust the testimony of people who saw Him die and three days later professed that they saw Him fully physically alive. People who gave strong evidence of eyewitness statements that changed them so dramatically that they were willing to die rather than deny it.
John shared the following accounts…
Mary Magdalene…
She turned to leave [the tomb] and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize Him. “Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?”
She thought He was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will go and get Him.”
“Mary!” Jesus said.
She turned to Him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”).
John 20:14–16
The Disciples without Thomas…
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” He said. As He spoke, He showed them the wounds in His hands and His side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!
John 20:19–20
The Disciples with Thomas…
Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” He said. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”
“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.
John 20:26–28
I heard an interviewer mock a believer for believing Jesus is alive. The interviewer used sarcastic laughter and profanity to contest that faith is “________ stupid” and “anti-intellectual.”
But for those who believe, this interviewer has joined those who ignore the strong evidence we have from eyewitnesses of the resurrected living Christ.
We have the written testimony of those who saw and spoke with Him, and touched His wounds. We have a written record from people who claim their lives were changed forever. People who ran away in fear before His death and who professed and proclaimed Him as Lord and Savior, after His resurrection.
Today, almost 2000 years later, we still have the testimony of people whose lives have been changed by Jesus’ love.
For those who truly SEEK Him, there is too much strong evidence for us not to believe. What do you think?
Let’s pray…
A Prayer Thanking God for
Strong Evidence to Believe in Jesus
Father God, thank you for wanting us to KNOW and LOVE You through Jesus. We thank and praise You for not wanting us to follow Him with blind faith. You graciously gave us Your Word, filled with the testimony of those who walked with Him, witnessed His death, and were blessed to see Him, and talk and eat with Him following His resurrection.
Thomas doubted the testimony of others, but after seeing Jesus alive, he proclaimed Him Lord God, and continued to share that truth until His death as a martyr. Like all of the Disciples, whose lives were changed to the point of giving their lives for the truth of their risen Lord and Savior.
How do I begin to thank You?
The Apostle Paul, who tried to destroy those who believed, wrote, “His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made,” after meeting the risen Savior on the road to Damascas. (Romans 1:20)
Thank you for the blessing of strong evidence of our risen Savior. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He has revealed Your power and gracious love.
How do I begin to thank You? I offer myself as a living sacrifice, loving You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving my neighbor as myself for the glory of Your holy name. Amen.
John added the following…
The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.
John 20:30–31
John knew the TRUTH, and he wanted you and me to KNOW the TRUTH, too. Through John and countless others, God gave us the strong evidence we need and invited us to SEEK it over everything else.
Promised through these words of our Savior, Jesus…
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:33
May the Lord bless and give you peace through the strong evidence we have to believe in Jesus for life.
We would love to pray for you.

Never forget the conversation I had with my husband a while back about God. And in the middle of it, I was talking to myself just as much as I did to him – recounting how Jesus walked the path of my life with me. Even when I refused to acknowledge Him, Jesus stayed with me faithfully. He allowed me to hurt His heart, be a wayward…but refused to let me go. And as I recounted my life to hubby, it hit me…how can I forfeit Jesus? How can I ever deny Him? Regardless of my wavering faith, doubts, backsliding, I have to acknowledge God’s love for me….I have to believe….
This is beautifully said, Gaby. We fail and He graciously forgives. He is everything we need. Yes, I have to believe as I can’t imagine doing a moment without Him. Blessings to you!
Great post! I agree. The evidence and the personal way God interacts in our lives make it impossible not to believe.
I agree, Valerie! His presence is the all-sufficient grace we need as He gives us peace that goes beyond our ability to understand. Is it any wonder we call it faith. Yet, that faith is so very real in every part of our lives. Blessings and hugs!
All those who saw Jesus after His resurrection and believed would have been beyond foolish if they had only made of a “story.” They lived in times where they could be put to death for their declarations, yet they wouldn’t stop spreading the Good News. Yes, those first believers still inspire us to follow Jesus. Blessings, Deb!
We are so blessed that the Lord wanted us to have a recorded history of His truth and promises. Blessings to you, dear friend!
Amen, Amen and Amen🙏🏻❤️
Thank you, JoAnne. God bless you!
I love the way Gaby put it. Very well said. Jesus is always with us, no matter what we have done and how we have let HIM down. And, Deb, your prayers touch me to my soul. Your heart is so wonderfully right with the Lord and such a blessed help to me. Thank you!! Always!!
Jesus is real and His life on earth was real. His sacrifice for all of us to be reconciled to God is real. How could anyone ever deny that!
I agree, Sue. Gaby gave a wonderful description of the blessed truth our hearts hold close. What a blessing it is to be loved by the awesome God of the universe. He is the Way, Truth, and Life. As David said, “I have everything I need!” Blessings and many thanks, dear friend!
