5 Powerful Resurrection Truths & Why You Need To Surrender

The Holy Spirit prompted me to cling to powerful resurrection truths and surrender this morning.
I went to the cemetery and knelt by our headstone. I needed to give my grief, fear, anxiety, and every other little thing that was distracting me to the Lord through faith in Jesus. It was time to say, “Not my will, but Yours.”
Jesus surrendered Himself completely for us…
“Abba, Father,” He cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Mark 14:36
All so that we might be forgiven and able to surrender our lives to faithfully follow Him…
Then He said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
Luke 9:23
The resurrection truth is that Jesus’ surrender and ours would be useless without His glorious resurrection!
Early Sunday morning, Jesus’ mother, Mary, and several other women ran to the tomb to anoint His body with burial spices. Surprisingly, the stone was rolled away, and as they entered, they were met by an angel who said…
“Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid His body. Now go and tell His disciples…
Mark 15:6–7a
Their message motivated Peter and John to look for themselves…
Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
John 20:8–9
How could they understand?
They had seen Jesus raise Jairus’ daughter, the widow’s son, and Lazarus, but no one had ever come back to life by the power of their own will. Still today, even with the testimony of Scripture, many doubt the truth of Jesus’ resurrection.
But look at these words from Paul, who went from persecutor to faith-filled proclaimer of resurrection truths…
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, He was seen by more than 500 of His followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.
1 Corinthians 15:3–6
By God’s grace, we have the following Life-Changing Powerful Resurrection Truths to hold in our hearts…
- Jesus’ resurrection is the key to our faith.
- It proves that He is who He says He is.
- It proves that we can trust Him to keep all His promises.
- It proves His power to give faith and life to the spiritually dead.
- It proves His power over death and our future resurrection.
These truths prompted me to kneel at Rev’s grave and once more surrender my all to Jesus. It was not my will that Rev would go to be with the Lord before me, but it was God’s will. And we would not have a hope-filled future if not for our Savior’s willingness to surrender Himself for us.
I will trust Him to keep His promises, confident that He holds resurrection power, because He lives … we too shall live.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Trust Resurrection Truths
and Surrender
Heavenly Father, Your love for us is beyond our ability to comprehend fully. You are holy and righteous, wholly set apart from sin and evil. It is not allowed in Your presence, and Your Word says the price and punishment for sin is death.
But Your love is so amazing that You sent Jesus to pay the debt for our sins, for my sins. I’m so sorry! It’s hard to think about Jesus willingly surrendering to Your will and the suffering He endured to save sinners like me.
I repent again and again, yet I continue to sin. Your Spirit inspired writers to tell of the importance of surrendering our will to You, Father. Solomon tells us to “Trust the Lord with all your heart.” (Proverbs 3:5) James said, “Submit yourselves.” (James 4:7) Paul wrote, “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice.” (Romans 12:1)
And Jesus said, “Pick up your cross and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
I can’t on my own. My sinful nature is stubborn and selfish. But when I trust Jesus’ resurrection truth and promises, I open my heart to the presence of His Spirit. And I believe I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength when I fully surrender to You. (Philippians 4:13)
Your grace, mercy, and love humble me. Thank you for the resurrection truths that prove I can trust Your promises. Thank you for giving me the gift of faith. And thank you for giving me hope in anticipation of experiencing Your resurrection power in my life and living in Your presence forever and always.
I pray this in the precious name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.
I think Lee Strobel explains it well…
“In short, I didn’t become a Christian because God promised I would have an even happier life than I had as an atheist. He never promised any such thing. Indeed, following Him would inevitably bring divine demotions in the eyes of the world. Rather, I became a Christian because the evidence was so compelling that Jesus really is the one-and-only Son of God who proved His divinity by rising from the dead. That meant following Him was the most rational and logical step I could possibly take.”
I pray these resurrection truths prompt you to surrender everything. May we allow Jesus to be the Lord of our lives as we trust Him to keep His promise to give us everything we need.
We would love to pray for you.

Thank you Deb for this blessed message in every aspect. I don’t think that I ever will be able to understand the depth of Jesus’s love for me/us. Just as I don’t think that I’ll ever understand what it meant for Him to be separated from the Father.
As I’m wrestling daily with my cross, love the fact that surrender is an ongoing actions. That it’s ok to recognize aspects of our lives that needs to be surrendered to Him, sometimes many times until finally we leave it in His hands for good.
Not even sure if it’s my heart that it’s wavering, or my mind. I know to the most inner being that God separated out my life – only He knows why as there is nothing in me that worth His love. And I know the truths of Scripture….yet, constantly failing in my faith when trials come. Panic and anxiety sets in rather than the calm, convinced faith – that God is with me in whatever I have to face. There are vast territories of my heart that require to be surrendered….
I like the way you said it, Gaby. It’s hard to know if it’s our hearts or minds that waver. I have a feeling it’s our minds when we love the Lord and want to trust Him faithfully. I’m starting to write from verses in Romans where Paul tells us how trials make us stronger. Whew, that’s my least favorite way to grow. I think that’s why faith surrenders. God bless you!
Let go…Let God!
It’s not easy, but it will set us free forever. God is so good! Blessings!
Your words spoke tenderly to my heart today, Deb. May God bless and keep you always, and His comforting words surround you with His forever promises.
I’m glad they encouraged you, Martha. You are a wonderful blessing to me each week. Thanks for being you. God bless you!
Just a big thank you, Deb for sharing the truth that our Lord reveals to you.
Eve🩷🙏🩷
Thank you so much for your kind encouragement, Eve. God bless you!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful prayer. Everything is from Him and because of Him. His resurrection gives us eternal life. Surrender, complete and continuous surrender (so difficult!). God bless you.
All we are and have are gracious gifts from God. My prayer is to willingly lay it all before Him in faithful surrender. You right, it’s not easy. But it’s a bit easier when I remember that it is all a gift from Him in the first place. God be with you and bless you!
💞~ Dearest Deb ~💞

Thank you so much for your kind words, Amanda. I do live under the shelter of His wing and I can’t imagine trying to do a moment outside of His care. Thank you for your prayers. He sustains me through the prayers of wonderful friends, like you! God bless you!!
Deb, thank you so much for such a heartfelt message! Sharing your grief does touch my heart as well. Learning to surrender is a daily process for me too. I do it though!! I know I have to, because I sure can’t do it on my own. I strongly believe every word of the Apostle’s Creed. I am eternally grateful for such a loving God. And, ONE who I can surrender to (even if I have to do it daily)! Thank you so very much my sweet and caring friend. You are a treasure!!! Everything you shared was so beautifully said.
It is a step by step walk, Sue. One that I know I couldn’t do without God’s peace and strength. Isn’t it a blessing to know that He never gives up on us and gently receives our humbly surrender as often as we need to offer it. He is so very gracious and good! Thank you, dear friend! Your kind encouragement always blesses my heart! HUGS!
