Know the Truth About the Gospel and Jesus

We’ve reached the end of Paul’s letter about the Gospel and Jesus. A letter to people who…
Have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 5:1
A letter of major importance because…
“The church in Rome was a cosmopolitan mixture of Jews, Gentiles, slaves, free people, men, and women. There were Roman citizens and world travelers; therefore, it had the potential for great influence and great conflict.” ~ (Life Application Bible Notes)
It sounds a lot like many of our churches today, doesn’t it? Thanks to the internet and other forms of broadcasting, our potential for great influence and great conflict is everywhere.
And that truth makes Paul’s benediction to the Romans a word of wisdom to us all…
Now to Him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept silent for long ages but now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God to advance the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles—to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ—to Him be the glory forever! Amen.
Romans 16:25–27 (CSB)
As we’ve studied the books of John and Romans this year, we’ve received a clear proclamation of the Gospel Truth and Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We read the foundational truth we need to share our faith.
John told us…
♥ In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
♥ So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. (John 1:14)
♥ The Word, Jesus, prayer to the Father, “I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.” (John 17:19)
Paul then gave a clear and detailed Gospel message to the Romans and all of us…
♥ Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (Romans 3:23)
♥ The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23a
♥ God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)
♥ But the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23b)
♥ If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. (Romans 10:9)
That’s the Gospel message and proclamation about Jesus Christ.
We are sinners who are unable to save ourselves. But God loves us so much, He sent Jesus to do what we could not do.
Praise God! The Messiah, Word made Flesh, our Lord and Savior, Jesus, is no longer a prophetic mystery. By God’s grace, we have the truth about the only One who can save us. The One who gave everything for us.
With the Spirit’s help, may you and I live with faith that gives us the willingness to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, to the glory of God the Father.

Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Know and Share
the Gospel and Jesus
Father God, I marvel that Your Word says You want a relationship with me. It declares the greatness of Your love, and Your desire to be loved by me. It promises that Your love is so amazing, You sent Jesus to save me.
You didn’t force Him. He came willingly. All because of His love for me and every sinner like me. That’s the Good News message. It’s the loving truth about the Gospel and Jesus.
Father, Your grace is beyond human comprehension. Something that can only be received through faith.
Thank you for showing us Your transforming power through the life of the Apostle Paul. Thank you for using his changed life to teach us about Your love and all that You want for us.
Paul told us the truth about Your power to give strength today and hope for the future. He proclaimed the gospel of Jesus and explained our need to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST Him. And he shared the blessing of obedience and the importance of being connected by and united in faith.
Father, please make it my heart’s desire to trust and obey You. Give me the courage I need to share the Gospel Truth about Jesus faithfully. Thank you for loving a sinner like me. Thank you for sending Jesus. Thank you for giving me the precious gift of faith. Amen.

The truth about the Gospel and Jesus is that you and I are loved more than we can imagine. We don’t have to obey a list of rules to be saved. We are saved by grace when we believe in our hearts that Jesus is Lord.
And when we believe, as Paul did, we want to share the message of God’s power to transform lives with everyone. We want to share our story and live for His glory.
Pastor J. D. Greear wrote…
“The gospel has done its work in us when we crave God more than we crave everything else in life, and when seeing His kingdom advance in the lives of others gives us more joy than anything we could own. When we see Jesus as greater than anything the world can offer, we’ll gladly let everything else go to possess Him.”
The Gospel is the truth about Jesus. Even in the secular world, the words gospel and truth are synonyms.
So, let’s share the truth about the Gospel and Jesus. Let’s boldly share our story of God’s transforming love.
