Even when we don't know what or how to pray, we don't have to be afraid. You and I can go to God in prayer knowing the Spirit is praying for our needs. #Prayer #BibleStudy #HolySpirit #Romans8 #Blessings

Have you ever read the following verses and wondered if your prayers are God-pleasing?

We are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

1 John 5:14–15

Oh, how the enemy can then tempt us with increased doubt when God’s answer is “no” or “not now.”

But God has given us what we need to fight this spiritual battle by wielding the Sword of the Spirit . . . the truth of His Word.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

Romans 8:26–27

When you and I enter the throne room of God’s grace, through faith in Jesus, the Spirit who knows everything about us is praying for us. He knows our needs, goes before us, and pleads for us according to God’s will.

Even when we don’t know what or how to pray, the Holy Spirit knows. We don’t have to be afraid to go to God with needs expressed and hearts laid bare.

Look at just some of the verses

  • “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” Philippians 4:6
  • “Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
  • “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:1
  •  “Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16

So, if you’re feeling like you’re not the prayer warrior you want to be . . . you’re not alone. In all honesty, I’ve never met anyone who felt like they were the perfect example of a powerful pray-er.

Why?

Because they know it’s not about them.

Powerful pray-ers know that prayer is about the grace and mercy of the One to whom and through whom we pray. The One who knows our hearts and our needs and loves us more than we can ever completely comprehend.

A Prayer for Peace Because the Holy Spirit is Praying

Father, it humbles me that you invite me to come to you just as I am because of Jesus. You invite me to lay my sins at the foot of the cross and my burdens at the foot of Your throne of grace. Your Word tells me I can bring every need to You with raw emotions and heart open wide.

I bring my flaws and failures to You asking for Your forgiveness. I am so sorry. Please help me SEEK Your kingdom, trust Your promises, and live according to Your will. Help me please You with my words, my actions, and my prayers.

And then, as I bring everything to You in prayer, please give me Your hard-to-understand perfect peace trusting that Your Spirit flawlessly brings my needs to You even when I am unable to express them myself.

I believe You will give me everything I need. You gave us Jesus to meet our greatest need. It’s in His name, I pray. Amen.

Even when we don't know what or how to pray, we don't have to be afraid. You and I can go to God in prayer knowing the Spirit is praying for our needs. #Prayer #BibleStudy #HolySpirit #Romans8 #Blessings

Pause today and just open your heart to the Lord. Tell Him what you need, your heart’s desire, your joys, and disappointments . . . thank and praise Him for who He is and all He does.

I love that Paul’s words about the Spirit praying for us precede this promise:

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

God loves us and is at work in everything in our lives.

Not everything will seem “good” at the moment but because of His great love and because He sees the big-picture of our eternal lives . . . God will always work in our lives in ways that are best for our forever futures.

We can trust Him . . . humbly pray in faith knowing that with the help of the Holy Spirit, your prayers please God.

When we SEEK Him, Know and Love Him—He will give us everything we need.

We would love to pray for you.
