Finding Hope in the Enduring & Trustworthy Word of God

Do you ever wonder if anyone or anything is trustworthy? Can you think of anything enduring and absolute? How often have we discovered that something we believed to be true was a lie all along?
Between the news, social media, and the spins and slants of repeated talking points, it’s easy to be cynical and doubt everything.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so thankful for the Word of God. Through writers inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Bible tells us God has always been and will always be trustworthy.
John concluded his “Book,” about Jesus’ life on earth, with the following declaration…
This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.
John 21:24
Bible notes tell us that we can compare John’s statement to a notarized document or a raised hand in a courtroom setting.
John walked with Jesus and witnessed His life, death, and resurrection.
He wanted everyone who read his words to know that Jesus is God’s Son who came to earth in a human body to suffer their punishment and give them life.
And he emphasized this by saying that Jesus called Himself the Word made flesh, the Lamb of God, the Father’s one and only Son, the Resurrection and the Life. The I Am.
John testified to what he saw and heard. He was there, he walked the journey, and his details were accurate. Jesus is and has always been who He says He is.
The Life Application Bible Notes add that John’s purpose for this Gospel was: “to prove conclusively that Jesus is the Son of God and that all who believe in Him will have eternal life.”
And that truth is stated in the final verse of his Gospel…
Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.
John 21:25
Stop and think about that for a moment.
The events and promises John and the other Gospel writers shared are just the highlights that the holy Spirit wanted recorded. There will always be more for us to learn about our Lord and Savior.
Do you wonder about the glories of heaven? Do you question how we’ll spend our time? Do you think about the moment you’ll meet Jesus face to face? What will it be like?
At present, we can only begin to imagine!
But for all eternity, we will have countless reasons to worship and adore the One who called Himself, I AM that I AM. He is forever and always God—our Father, Savior, and Ever-present Spirit.
If you’re an inquisitive explorer, get ready, because our eternal future will forever and always hold new things for us to understand and experience.
So, when you wonder about the TRUTH, don’t settle. SEEK a deeper understanding of God’s love through His Word, prayer, and the testimony of those who KNOW and LOVE Him.
Remember these truths about God’s Word being enduring and trustworthy…
Paul wrote to Timothy…
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16
And Jesus prayed…
Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
John 17:17
Praise God! He wants us to KNOW Him, and by His grace, He gave us exactly what we need to have hope for the future.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer of Thanks for the Enduring and
Trustworthy Word of God
Father God, You are so very gracious and loving. Thank you for the blessing of Your Word. Every discovered historical document testifies that the Bible is trustworthy and true. You want us to KNOW and LOVE You.
Your Spirit prompted writers throughout the ages to document events and promises to tell us about Your character and desires. Everything in the universe substantiates that You are who You say You are, and that You are trustworthy to keep your promises.
Thank you for the eyewitness testimony of people like John, who walked with Your Son, Jesus, and told us the personal details of His life. John quoted Him as saying, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!”
Through John’s testimony, I feel like I, too, have seen Jesus and You. I have learned of Your love, care, and compassion, and received the truth that You would rather die for me than live without me.
I am humbled and overwhelmed by Your love. I give myself to You in faith, repenting of all my sins, grateful for the promise of Your mercy and grace. And by the power of Your Spirit, I will live every day in grateful anticipation of the wonders ahead.
It fills my heart with hope and joy, knowing I have all of eternity to learn about You. I have forever and always to worship and adore You. All because of Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
David wrote…
The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul.
Psalm 19:7–8
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.
The Word of God is trustworthy, reliable, and enduring. It tells us who God is and what He wants for us. It holds promises that give us strength today and hope for the future.
It is the sword of the Spirit that helps us fight off the enemy of our souls. It is alive and active…
The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
By God’s grace, it tells us the truth we need today, tomorrow, and eternally.
May God be with you and bless you as you SEEK to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST Him through His Word.
We would love to pray for you.
