Verses To Know the Truth About Jesus’ Birth
My dad spent his career as a barber, keeping customers looking good with stylish cuts, razor shaves, and occasional facials.
He had one customer for whom Jesus’ birth was a barrier to his faith. You see, the man was a gynecologist who found it impossible to accept the thought of a virgin birth.
So, let’s look at God’s Word and the reasons I believe you and I can trust God, who has and continues to do the impossible.

God prompted Isaiah and Jeremiah to prophesy about the Messiah’s birth almost 700 years before Jesus was born.
Isaiah wrote…
The Lord Himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call Him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
Isaiah 7:14
I can only imagine what the people of that time thought. It’s incomprehensible to think of a young woman who had never been intimate with a man giving birth to a child.
But that’s what God said would happen, and Luke affirmed that God did what He said He would do.
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David.
Luke 1: 26b–27
Immediately after the first sin in the Garden, God promised to send a Savior to redeem sinners. He knew we couldn’t save ourselves, and He loved us too much to leave us in our sin.
The family of Judah wasn’t perfect. They needed a Savior just like the rest of us. But they were chosen because God uses whomever He chooses to accomplish His plans and purposes.
“For the time is coming,”
Jeremiah 23:5–6
says the Lord,
“when I will raise up a righteous descendant
from King David’s line.
He will be a King who rules with wisdom.
He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
And this will be His name:
‘The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’
In that day Judah will be saved,
and Israel will live in safety.
The Lord chose David’s family for the Savior. He wanted everyone, including you and me, to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE Him. Not because anyone deserves it, but because He is gracious, and merciful, righteous, and LOVING.
The Lord is our Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor. He is 100% God and 100% man, born of a virgin girl to accomplish a salvation plan for all who would humble themselves and surrender to His grace, mercy, and love.
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
Maybe that’s why it’s called FAITH. In many ways, it’s impossible to comprehend God physically coming to live among sinful people.
One of my friends challenged us recently to spend some time thinking about Jesus willingly humbling Himself to grow in a young woman’s womb, to go through the birthing process, and surrender to being completely vulnerable to the care of others through infancy and childhood.
It’s really impossible to fully grasp, isn’t it?
I believe the truth about Jesus’ birth is that we embrace it through faith. Like Mary, we take God’s prophecies and promises and hold them firmly in our hearts.

Let’s pray.
A Prayer Praising God for
The Miracle of Jesus’ Birth
Heavenly Father, words are insufficient to thank You for promising and giving us the gift of Jesus. You could have given up on humanity and started over, but Your love is so great that Jesus humbled Himself to come willingly as a helpless infant to a young mother and father. He made Himself completely dependent upon their care and provision.
He could only be fully God and fully man through the Spirit and the body of a virgin. Yes, it’s incomprehensible, but You promised it, and You accomplished it.
Thank you for the prophets through whom You shared Your plans for our Savior. We cannot save ourselves. Our debt is too great. But You sent Jesus to carry our sin to the cross, allowing us to repent and receive Your forgiveness.
Your Word says it is only through faith in Jesus that we can be saved and live with You forever. On my own, none of this is possible. But through Your grace, mercy, and love, and the awesome blessing of faith, I have all I need to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You. FAITH and a heart changed by You is all I need now and forever.
You made the impossible possible. I believe. And I will forever celebrate the miracle of Jesus’ birth. Thanks and praise in His precious name. Amen.

This quote from Ann VosKamp touched my heart…
“So God throws open the door of this world—and enters as a baby. As the most vulnerable imaginable. Because He wants unimaginable intimacy with you. What religion ever had a god that wanted such intimacy with us that He came with such vulnerability to us? What God ever came so tender we could touch Him? So fragile that we could break Him? So vulnerable that His bare, beating heart could be hurt? Only the One who loves you to death.”
John MacArthur explained His virgin birth like this…
“Mary’s virginity protected a great deal more than her own moral character, reputation, and the legitimacy of Jesus’ birth. It protected the nature of the divine Son of God… Jesus had to have one human parent, or He could not have been human, and thereby a partaker of our flesh. But He also had to have divine parentage, or He could not have made a sinless and perfect sacrifice on our behalf.”
It is hard to understand, but by God’s grace and the power of His Spirit, it is possible to believe. You and I can trust the God who promised that a virgin would conceive a child who would give His life to save the people He created.
That’s grace, mercy, and love. May His love fill your heart as you prepare to celebrate His birth.
We would love to pray for you.
