You Need the Truth about Jesus – God & Man

We won't fully understand the truth about Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, this side of heaven. But there is so much we can learn about Him now when we sit at His feet with faith, hope, and love.

Our human minds cannot fully comprehend the truth about Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, this side of heaven.

He is Almighty God. Creator. King. Alpha and Omega. Good Shepherd. Lion of Judah. Lord of All. Savior. I AM.

He is the Word who became flesh in the body of a teenage girl—born in poverty and cradled with critters—the ultimate example of humility.

It makes us wonder…

What makes the maker of stars walk on dusty paths among broken people all the way to Calvary?

Love.

What makes perfect righteousness and justice willingly take on a sinner’s punishment?

Love.

What makes the Great I AM, the One before whom no one can stand, suffer an undeserved death sentence?

Love.

 Though He was God,
He did not think of equality with God
    as something to cling to.
Instead, He gave up His divine privileges;
He took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When He appeared in human form,
He humbled Himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Philippians 2:6–8

How can we, human beings, people who carry the weight of pride and selfishness, understand the perfect love of a Holy God who would humble Himself completely for them?

The truth about Jesus is that He carried the weight of humanity without sinning and showed God’s righteousness and power with perfect love…

He Called Sinners to Repentance.

Jesus went into Galilee, where He preached God’s Good News. “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

Mark 1:14b–15

He Commanded and Cast Out Demons

That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick.

Matthew 8:16

He Fed Thousands

Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed.

Mark 6:41, 44

He Calmed Storms.

Soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke Him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly, the storm stopped, and all was calm.

Luke 8:23–24

The TRUTH about Jesus, 100% God and 100% man, is that He came to show God’s almighty power and perfect love, because of His great desire to have a personal relationship with you and me.

It reminds me of Max Lucado’s quote…

“The maker of the stars would rather die for you than live without you. And that is a fact. So if you need to brag, brag about that.”

It’s humbling and makes me realize how easy it is for us to focus our attention on Jesus being God or being man.

However, when we focus on one or the other, we miss the whole truth about Jesus and who He truly is. We miss the blessing of knowing Him, the One True God in human flesh. Almighty God came from heaven to earth to save the people He loves. People like you and me.

Jesus is Emmanuel… God with us. Because that’s how much He loves.

So, when we’re… Cranky. Impatient. Unproductive. Critical. Discouraged. Insecure. Etc. Or when we feel small, insignificant, unlovable…

Let’s remember that no matter how we feel, the Lord loves usThe King of kings and Lord of lords gave up everything to show you and me how much. No accomplishment can make Him love us more, and no failure will make Him love us less.

Jesus is God’s perfect love in human flesh, and through His life, death, and resurrection, He defeated sin, death, and Satan’s power forever.

He is Victorious. He is the name above all names.

Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor
and gave Him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9–11
We won't fully understand the truth about Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, this side of heaven. But there is so much we can learn about Him now when we sit at His feet with faith, hope, and love.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer Thanking God for
The Truth About Jesus

Father God, I thank and praise You for showing us Your perfect love through Jesus, who came to save us. He is, was, and always will be one with You and the Spirit. Your Word says that He spoke the world into being and tells us of His promise to be with us forever and always.

He gave up the glories of heaven, humbling Himself to live among sinful people. He showed us Your mercy, grace, power, and wisdom. And that was just the beginning…

Father, thank you for helping me know, love, and trust Jesus, my Savior. I realize that as much as I am learning about Him and about You through Him, there is so much more to learn. Therefore, I will be a SEEKer. I will SEEK the TRUTH about You and Your Kingdom. I will spend time resting in Your presence through Your Word and prayer.

And I will forever praise and worship You for Your Spirit and for allowing me to know the truth about Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I love You, Lord. By grace I am saved through faith in Jesus. You are so very gracious. You are perfect love. Amen.

We won't fully understand the truth about Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, this side of heaven. But there is so much we can learn about Him now when we sit at His feet with faith, hope, and love.

It’s true, finite beings cannot understand an infinite God this side of heaven. Yet, by His grace, He wants us to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST Him.

When I think of Jesus laying down the glories of heaven to show us God’s perfect soul-saving love, I am humbled.

Jesus. Emmanuel. The Word made flesh: the Way, Truth, and Life.

He is God’s perfect love in human flesh, who came to give us what He called a “rich and satisfying life.”

We may not fully understand the truth about Jesus this side of heaven, but by His grace and with the Spirit’s help, I want to sit at His feet and learn.

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high
