When your faith is weakened by doubts & questions, it's important to know that we can Ask, Seek, and Knock, God will answer our prayers and give us strength. #Faith #BibleStudy #Prayer #Blessings

I frequently hear from people who are struggling with feelings of doubt…

  • They doubt God’s goodness.
  • They question God’s forgiveness.
  • They’re afraid or worried about the future.
  • They’re disappointed, hurt, or just beaten down by life.
  • They don’t feel His presence and wonder about His love.

The enemy of our souls works overtime to keep us focused on world crises and personal problems. And just like his very first tempting in the Garden, he asks:

“Did God really say…”

Genesis 3:1

My childhood pastor would tell us, “It’s okay to doubt. In fact, it’s good, if it causes you to ask, seek, and knock. If it gets you to turn to God.”

So, if like me, you have days when you feel like the father in the Bible who said to Jesus:

“I believe. Help me overcome my unbelief.”

Mark 9:24

Then join me as I turn to God and ask, seek, and knock.

Things To Do When Your Faith is Weak

Ask

God invites us to come with our doubts and questions . . . to never stop praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and to be still and know Him (Psalm 46:10).

May we…

♥ Ask God to Increase Our Faith

The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”

Luke 17:5

♥ Ask God to Forgive Our Failures and Weaknesses

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

Psalm 86:5

♥ Ask God for His Guidance and Direction

Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live.

Psalm 43:3

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. (Matthew 7:7a)

Seek

God seeks out the lost and broken . . . the lost sheep (Ezekiel 34:11) and the heart in the pit of despair (Psalm 40:2), God comes and saves us. He invites us to SEEK Him above all else. (Luke 12:31)

May we…

♥ Seek God’s Truth Through His Word and Prayer

We will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

Acts 6:4 (CSB)

♥ Seek to Know God’s Will . . . to Trust and Obey Him

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2

♥ Seek His Presence . . . Watch What He is Doing In and Around You.

For You have set my soul free from death. You have kept my feet from falling, so I may walk with God in the light of life.

Psalm 56:13

Keep on seeking, and you will find. Matthew 7:7b

Knock

God invites us to knock as one in need . . . Repeatedly. Without fear. Without holding back. (Luke 11:5–10)

And may we…

♥ Knock in faith whether it is weak or strong trusting that we can knock because Jesus has gone before us. The door to the throne room is open and the Father is waiting.

My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 27:8

Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7c

When our faith is weak. When we doubt. When we’re lost and broken. We are invited to Ask. Seek. Knock.

Pray Matthew 7:7 What You Doubt Your Faith

Father, I am struggling with weakness. I feel vulnerable to the enemy’s lies as I see evil rising up in the world around me. The Psalmist wrote, “When doubts filled my mind, Your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” (Psalm 94:19) And because of that, Your Word also says, “So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!” (Psalm 31:24)

I come to You ASKing, SEEKing, and KNOCKing. I ASK for Your forgiveness. I ASK that You will fill me with Your Spirit and increase my faith. I ASK You to guide and direct me as I give myself to You. I SEEK to know Your heart through Your Word and prayer. I SEEK Your help to know Your will and the strength I need to fully trust and obey all You want for me. I SEEK Your presence in my life so that I might be aware of all that You are doing around me and that I may participate in Your plan for me. I also KNOCK on the door of Your throne room. I come to You in repentance surrendering my hopes, dreams, and desires to You trusting that You will be with me and give me everything I need each day.

Lord, I give myself to You. Please remove my doubt . . . increase my faith. And by Your grace, I pray that You will help me Love, Trust, and Obey You with all my heart for all my days. Amen.

God is greater than our doubts. When the enemy taunts and tempts you and me with anxious thoughts and concerning questions . . . may we go back to that devil and remind him just how great our God is.

And let’s pause throughout the day to remember how very much God loves. He is present. He hears and answers.

He is greater than our circumstances and He is able to overcome our doubts.

God bless you today, remove your doubts, grant you His peace, and fill you with hope!

  1. God bless you Deb for this very timely and deeply meaningful post! The exact questions I’ve been struggling with. Many times I’m under a slew of doubt that I only know the Book God, but He’s not real to me. While I have countless proof how He guided and guarded my life regardless of my rebellion against Him.
How could I not love a God like Him? Yet, many times I question if I really know what loving Jesus means … To find my life’s purpose, the reason He brought me here. I wasted precious decades pursuing pipe dreams while ignoring the Almighty Lord. Whatever is left from my life, I want it to count for something.
And this morning, this message KNOCKed on my heart’s door. Have a blessed day Deb for searching, sharing and encouraging.

Dear Gaby, I can so relate to all you said! It is like your words came straight out of my heart! I hate all the lost years, that I didn’t follow God and His Word. At this point in my life, I so want to give my all to God and yet, i fall so short on so many days! I will keep you in prayer and will so appreciate your prayers for me. God is with us and He knows our heart!! Blessings and prayers for His Will to be done in both of our lives! ✝️????✝️????

      1. Dearest Kathy, I surely will pray for you and grateful for your intersession at the Heavenly Throne ????????. To a large extent that’s why we share our thoughts, struggles, questions and answers on thus site, to help each other along the way. Long time ago, the Lord gave me a passage that in loose translation says that the Lord will restore what the locust devoured. I think it also applies to our wasted life, and years wondering around without Him. While He can’t bring back those decades, Jesus can make the rest of our years wonderful, fulfilling and to count. This morning I was talking with hubby and one his sentence hit me like a lightening. He was just telling about how he wants to help out to make my life easier to bear with his health problems. I reminded him that he can’t earn my love and he has it for decades. As soon as the words left my mouth, God’s Word hit me – that this is what Jesus is telling us too, – that we can’t earn His Love as we already have it ❤️. You said it perfectly Kathy, let’s pray for each other, for deeper faith, trust and understanding not only of God’s Word, but our relationship with Him, and His purpose for us. Lots of blessings my friend ????????????

    2. Hi Gaby. Every day of your life counts for so much. You are giving it to Jesus. I believe that as we trust and follow Him, He will guide us that day to fulfill the purposes He has for us. Simple smiles, words of encouragement, and small acts of service done for His glory are a blessing. I know you bless and encourage me regularly! Hugs!

  2. Beautiful reminders for all of us, Deb. God is just waiting for us to seek, knock and find.
    Blessings!

I have a stress fracture in my right foot for the past 6 weeks and have been non weight bearing. I go to the doctor next week for checkup. Please pray for healing.

    1. Lifting you up in prayer, Cindy! God bless you with healing and peace.

I can definitely relate to being a doubting Thomas. There are times when I am in a situation that seems out of my control that I wonder, are You really there. Why haven’t you fixed this. I call but You do not answer. But turning to scripture I remember all things are done for the glory of God and it is in His time not mine. It is hard not to fight for control but when I surrender and give in to His control a peace comes over me. Yes “I believe. Help me overcome my unbelief”.
Thank you Deb. A very powerful reminder about faith and trust in the Lord.

    1. Thank you, Marilyn! I am so thankful the Holy Spirit made sure that conversation was in the Bible. I think many of us have been encouraged and blessed by that father’s honest words to Jesus. God is so good! Blessings!

  5. Kathy Francescon says:

Blessed morning to you, Deb! Seems you have touched so many weary hearts this morning. I so believe, hope, and trust in God! Yet sometimes the noise of the world and the enemy and his wily ways, tires us all out a bit! But your words of encouragement are always an uplifting bridge! A way to cross back over to the peace and comfort of our Heavenly Father. Such beautiful verses this morning and as always, your prayers touch my heart and become my own to whisper to God. Prayers for all your readers and for you this day…”God help me to be closer to You, Lord, so I am farther from me.”

    1. Thank you, Kathy! I sure do appreciate your comments. You bless me every time! Hugs!
