How God will Help You Live in Victory with Power through Faith
If you’re a regular visitor here, you know that I’ve made the following one of my life verses:
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need.
Luke 12:31
I talk a lot about my desire to put God first in my life to SEEK Him first – but what does it mean to “seek the Kingdom of God.”
Most likely, some would define God’s kingdom by the things that happen at church, which may go way back to the Old Testament teaching that God’s presence (His kingdom) resided within the tabernacle.
But Jesus defined the Kingdom of God as being:
- with and within God’s people through faith in Jesus. – Luke 17:20-21
- approached through understanding of who Jesus is. – Mark 12:34
- entered through repentance and child-like faith in Jesus. – Mark 10:15
- entered through spiritual rebirth through faith in Jesus. – John 3:3–5
- only possible through forgiveness and God’s grace. – Mark 10:27
And Paul wrote:
The Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.
1 Corinthians 4:20
So, I can’t help but wonder—if the Kingdom of God makes it possible for us to live by God’s power . . . why do I so often fail to function in that power and live in victory.
The Bible tells us that this is the Holy Spirit empowering us to experience:
- hope when things appear hopeless. (Romans 12:12)
- strength when we are weak. (Philippians 4:13)
- wisdom when we don’t understand. (James 1:5)
- forgiveness when we are broken. (1 John 1:9)
- comfort when we are grieving. (Psalm 34:18)
- love when we feel unloved. (Jude 1:1)
- direction when we feel lost. (Proverbs 3:5–6)
I want to live in victory by God’s power, don’t you?
I want to be able to live these words:
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4–5
So, will you pray with me? I’m asking God to help me diligently SEEK His Kingdom above all else that I might experience His power to live in victory.
A Prayer to SEEK First, Grow in Faith,
and Experience God’s Power for Victory
Father, Make me a SEEKer . . . someone with child-like faith whose heart’s desire is to Know, Trust, and Love You with all that I am. I commit to spending time with You, in worship, in prayer, in Your Word. Please speak to me through Your Spirit. Teach me, guide me, and increase my faith.
Lord, I can sometimes make You too small in my thoughts and through my words. I’m often distracted by the problems around me giving in to fear and anxiety. Please forgive me. I can’t live in victory if I ignore the power You want to give me.
Be my heart’s desire. Compel me to SEEK Your Kingdom. And fill me with the power of Your Spirit that I might destroy false arguments and proud obstacles. Give me everything I need to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I give myself to Your will today, asking You to help me live in victory through faith in Jesus.
Your kingdom is with us and within us. It is the power we need now and always. It is Your love around us. I thank and praise You. Amen.
Through God’s grace and faith in Jesus, you and I are members of the Kingdom of God. And through the Spirit, we have God’s power to live in victory.
Jonathan Edwards wrote:
The seeking of the kingdom of God is the chief business of the Christian life.
And John Calvin said:
Our assurance, our glory, and the sole anchor of our salvation are that Christ the Son of God is ours, and we, in turn, are in Him sons of God and heirs of the Kingdom of Heaven, called to the hope of eternal blessedness by God’s grace, not by our worth.
Pause throughout the day today and thank God for giving you faith in Jesus. Praise Him for His Word and the blessing of prayer. SEEK Him and trust Him to give you the power you need to live in victory.
Amen. Thanks Deb, very practical. I know I under estimate God’s power and over estimate my problems all the time. I need to work on that. God bless, Tracy
It is amazing how we love to put God in our little boxes…instead of realizing He cannot be contained!!
Tracy, I am so quick to want to fix everything myself. I am so thankful when He reminds me that He is more than able!
You are absolutely right, Anjuli! He cannot be contained!
May we all seek God’s kingdom above all else.
Blessings, Deb!
Amen, Martha! Have a wonderful weekend! Blessings!
Thank you so much Deb for your emails I receive, they totally bless me and encourage me!! Love ya sister all the way from a small fishing village in Northern Ireland! Looking to our Lord and saviour as one large army of Christians working and serving together, ???? until we meet…..
Oh, Judith, this made my day! Thank you so much for visiting CMB and for your kind encouragement. Isn’t heaven going to be wonderful . . . meeting, in person, friends from all over the world. God be with you and bless you!
OMG Deb, that prayer sounded exactly what I usually pray to the Father. As I was reading it, I literally heard me pray it today and yesterday…
My biggest problem is how do I know it’s the Lord’s answer to my prayer, or I’m just doing what I wanted in the first place and stamp God’s Name on it???? Have a blessed night
What a great question, Gaby. I think for me that takes slowing down. I know that His will and His answers are always consistent with His Word. He will never ask us to do anything or give us anything that is outside of what He promises and commands. I also remember that He always wants me to show His love. I think for me the hardest part is to wait on Him when I don’t have clear direction. What a blessing to know that we are always covered by His patience, forgiveness, and love. Blessings!
My soul us down cast these days much as ive been clinging to God so much . I truely believe that He knows my name and what im going through. I pray for strength through the Holy Spirit my advocate. I know i will overcome. Thanks Debbie. God bless you abundantly.
Lifting you up in prayer, Annette, and asking God to be with you and give you everything you need as you cling to Him in faith. God bless you!
Blessings Deb, thank you for your post today x
Thank you, Angela! God bless you as well!
