What do you believe about Jesus?

He once asked His disciples, “who do you say I am?”

Who is Jesus to you?

Jesus’ birth more than 2,000 years ago fundamentally changed the world.

  • The majority of people believe that Jesus was a real person.
  • Many also consider Him a highly influential historical figure.
  • Some believe He was a wise scholar or even a prophet.
  • And others truly believe that He was and is the sinless Son of God.

The writer of the Book of Hebrews begins with a clear detailed statement to answer the question, “who is Jesus?”

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

Hebrews 1:1–3

♥ Jesus is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises and the words of the prophets.

♥ Jesus was one with the Father in the creation of the universe.

♥ Jesus shows people the very nature of God . . . His glory and His character.

♥ Jesus preserves and protects all that He created.

♥ Jesus is the One who saves us from our sins.

♥ Jesus is the Lord of lords and King of kings.

The Life Application Bible Notes adds:

If Jesus could create the universe, then no part of life is out of His control . . . no expert, professor, doctor, lawyer, or financial adviser knows more about your ultimate security and well-being than Jesus does.

Jesus doesn’t just represent God. Jesus is God.

The very majesty and power that created the universe and still preserves and protects it is our Lord and Savior, Jesus. When He entered history in a human body, He gave us the opportunity to have a clear personal view of God Himself.

You and I can believe Jesus is who He says He is. And He says, “The Father and I are one.” (John 10:30)

A Prayer to Know and Believe Jesus is the Son of God

Lord Jesus, “I believe. Please help me overcome my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24) I want to know You! I want to believe that You are who You say You are! I want to trust You with every part of my life.

Please forgive me for the times I look for answers in the shifting solutions the world offers. Forgive me for letting distractions and busyness keep me from spending time with You through Your Word and prayer. Forgive me for failing to invest in all the things that will help me know, love, and trust You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Forgive me for relying on the wisdom of men instead of opening my heart to the full leading of Your Spirit.

Please help me. I pray to set my heart and mind on You. I pray that You will be magnified in my life. You are Lord of All. You are my Savior. You are the One who gives me strength and courage, hope and peace. You have lifted me out of the pit of despair and I trust You to give me everything I need through Your all-sufficient grace. I give myself to You. I praise You. I thank You. I worship You. Forever and Always! Amen.

If you are overwhelmed by a changing world . . . run to Jesus, the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His character never changes. His love never changes. His justice is always perfect. His grace and mercy will never end.

He wants a personal intimate relationship with you. He wants to be with you when you need His help and forgive you when you fail.

He already knows and loves you and me and more than anything He wants us to know and love Him.

On today’s note write:

I believe Jesus is God, my Savior. The One who was, who is, and who is to come!

God bless you today as you run to Jesus.
