Truth – Jesus is Enough for Your Greatest Need

Can you say, “Jesus is enough?”
I read this devotion by Louie Giglio several years ago, and it still speaks to my heart.
He wrote…
Jesus doesn’t just give you what you need; Jesus is what you need. Your heart was created by Him, for Him. You can fight and claw to gain the world, but without Jesus, you will never be completely satisfied.
Waiting Here for You – by Louie Giglio
If there is a growing discontent deep inside your heart—a hunger that hasn’t been completely satisfied by the people, pleasures, parties, material things, or accomplishments—today is the day to open your heart to the idea that it is Jesus that you were made for. But you have to walk away from “less,” and ask Him to become your “more.” Jesus is enough for you, and He is here.
I love that…
Jesus doesn’t just give us what we need; Jesus is what we need!
He alone can heal a hurting and broken world.

When we are edgy and stressed by Christmas preparations—Jesus is enough.
When the kids are having a “let’s drive mommy and daddy crazy” day—Jesus is enough.
When your neighbors are less than neighborly—Jesus is enough.
When the report from your physician is unsettling—Jesus is enough.
When the news makes you angry and anxious—Jesus is enough.
When your life gets turned upside down —Jesus is enough.
What if we made it our goal to replace every anxiety-ridden thought with these words…
Jesus is enough!
We can trust that God’s promises are the absolute truth…
God will use His wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.
Philippians 4:19
And we have perfect promises from Jesus Himself…
Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20
Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.
Mark 16:16a
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,
John 10:27–28
I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
John 14:2b–3
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”
Matthew 6:33
The Father gave us everything we need. He gave us Jesus, who is the love we crave and the forgiveness we need, yet know we don’t deserve.
He generously provides the strength we lack, the peace we want, and the forever future in heaven we long for.
Jesus provides everything we need because Jesus is what we need.
So, as David wrote…
Be strong and courageous, all you who hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24
Remember…
Jesus is enough!
No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:29
Look again at the second sentence from Giglio’s devotion: “Your heart was created by Him, for Him.”
You and I will never be satisfied until we find our “enough” in Jesus.
But when we do…
We have the covering of God’s grace, mercy, and love.
We have a God-given purpose.
We can live free of fear about the future.
We have the peace that passes understanding.
And we can experience His generous blessings with joy.
When we have Jesus, we have more than enough of what we need most.

Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Always Remember
Jesus is Enough
Gracious Father, thank you for giving us the greatest gift ever. Thank you for the blessing of Jesus. Your Word tells us that if we SEEK Your Kingdom above all else, You will give us everything we need.
And You have … You love the world You created so much that You gave Jesus, Your only Son, to save us from sin, death, and the power of the enemy. You promise that all who believe in Jesus will have eternal life.
You have always known what we need most, and You graciously provide.
Jesus is everything I need today and always. Jesus is enough.
He is with me, giving me the courage, strength, peace, and hope I need. Through the Spirit, I believe that Your grace, mercy, and love cover me. And I cling to Your promise that nothing can separate me from those precious blessings.
Just thinking about it humbles me and prompts me to come to You with gratitude and praise. You have given me everything I need. You fill my life with faith, hope, and love.
I worship You. I love You. By Your grace, please help me share Your love and the TRUTH about Jesus with everyone I meet. I pray this in His holy name. Amen.

Here are a few additional quotes from Louie Giglio…
“God calls each and every star by name. It’s not likely He has forgotten yours.”
“Worry and worship cannot exist in the same space. One always displaces the other. Choose worship.”
“Don’t overcomplicate God’s will. Just stay connected to Jesus. Love Him. Look into His eyes. He will lead. Follow. Repeat.”
“God has plans and purposes for each of our lives. But the beauty is that He doesn’t call us and leave us on our own. Jesus actually lives in us to pull off the amazing things that He has invited us into.”
Jesus is enough!
May you be abundantly blessed as you prepare to celebrate God’s gift of Jesus, the One who is everything we need.
We would love to pray for you.
