Let Everything that Breathes Praise the Lord Now & Always

As all of creation fulfills its purpose to praise the Lord, it does exactly what God made it to do. So, we're joining all that has been made to praise God for who He is and for what He does.

Praise the Lord!

The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
    The skies display His craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
    night after night they make Him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
    their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
    and their words to all the world.

Psalm 19:1–4

All creation was made for God’s glory. All creation was made to praise and glorify Him. And that includes you and me.

We’ve reached the last of the Psalms.

Psalm 150 is a closing hymn of praise to the Lord of all…

Praise the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary;
    praise Him in His mighty heaven!
Praise Him for His mighty works;
    praise His unequaled greatness!
Praise Him with a blast of the ram’s horn;
    praise Him with the lyre and harp!
Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing;
    praise Him with strings and flutes!
Praise Him with a clash of cymbals;
    praise Him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 150:1–6

Wherever we are. Whatever we do. Every breath we take is to be an act of praise.

Whether we are singing a song of praise, doing the laundry, changing a diaper, feeding the poor, or lifting our hands with a room full of worshippers … every moment of our lives can be lived for God’s glory.

In just a few days, we will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

John wrote…

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14 (NIV)

The Word made flesh, Jesus, is God’s most gracious and glorious gift…

From His abundance, we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:16–17

And at His birth, the heavenly hosts filled the heavens praising and glorifying God…

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

Luke 2:13–14

So, let’s take our breath and every other part of our lives and join together with all creation and praise the Lord…

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
    praise Him in His mighty heaven!
Praise Him for His mighty works;
    praise His unequaled greatness!

Psalm 150
As all of creation fulfills its purpose to praise the Lord, it does exactly what God made it to do. So, we're joining all that has been made to praise God for who He is and for what He does.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer to Praise the Lord with Every Breath

Father, I praise You for You are the God who loves and cares for us. You gave us a beautiful creation … all of which lives and breathes for Your glory. Every plant, tree, hill, and creature fulfills the purpose for which You created it.

I praise You for the gift of Jesus. I praise You that He came to live among us and that He understands what it is like to live in this sinful world. Thank you that He lived the perfect life that I am unable to live. Thank you for the ways He showed us Your love, care, and compassion. Thank you for His sacrifice that makes my redemption possible. Thank you for giving all that I need to KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE Him … and You, Father.

I thank and praise You for the blessing of the Holy Spirit, the One who helps, comforts, guides, and instructs me. I praise You that He leads me with truth and wisdom. I praise You that when I am weak … You are strong. I praise You for being my source of peace, hope, joy, patience, and everything else I need to live a life of faith, hope, and love.

Every breath I breathe is a gift from Your loving hand. And when I breathe my last breath here on earth, I will join You in heaven and proclaim Your praise forevermore. Amen.

As all of creation fulfills its purpose to praise the Lord, it does exactly what God made it to do. So, we're joining all that has been made to praise God for who He is and for what He does.

Verses and quotes to praise God for who He is and what He does…

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Ephesians 1:3

“The more you praise God, the more you become God-conscious and absorbed in His greatness, wisdom, faithfulness, and love. Praise reminds you of all that God is able to do and of great things He has already done.” ~ Wesley L. Duewel

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.

2 Cotinthians 1:3

“Praise lies upon a higher plain than thanksgiving. When I give thanks, my thoughts still circle around myself to some extent. But in praise my soul ascends to self-forgetting adoration, seeing and praising only the majesty and power of God, His grace and redemption.” ~ Ole Hallesby

Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: “Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

Revelation 19:6

My prayer as we praise the Father for the birth of our Savior this week is that we will intentionally join the chorus of praise that lasts forever. May the Lord bless your celebration and fill your life with a song of praise.
