5 Wonderful Ways to Add Worship to Your Life

Psalm 95 is called an invitation to worship. We're looking at 5 ways to add worship to our lives but we'd love to hear some of the ways you worship God each day. Come over and join the conversation.

I started attending a Christian grade school in second grade and from that point through junior high, our classes were assigned various Scripture verses to memorize each week.

Psalm 95 was always a teacher favorite. It was their hope that we would take these powerful words, plant them deep in our hearts, and learn the ways we could add worship to our daily lives.

I’m old enough to have learned it in the King James Version, so that’s the one I’d like to share with you today…

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is His also.

The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land.

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

Psalm 95:1, 3–7a (KJV)

How do you add worship to your life? Is worship just something you do on Saturday or Sunday or is it an intentional part of your life each day?

Let’s take a closer look at Psalm 95 and learn some of the specific ways we can make worship and praise an intentional part of who we are and what we do every day.

5 Ways to Add Worship God from Psalm 95

Make a Joyful Noise – Worship God with Music

Turn up the music and sing songs of praise. Dance with joy and raise your hands to the Lord who is our Great God and the King above all gods.

Recognize Who God Is – Worship God Simply for Who He is

Prayerfully praise Him for He is the great I AM. He is our loving Savior. He is the Spirit of Truth. Acknowledge that He is God. This isn’t about being grateful for what He does but praising and celebrating Him for He alone is God!

You must not have any other god but me. Exodus 20:3

All Creation Belongs to God – Worship God Outside

Everything belongs to Him because He created it. Throughout history, people have worshipped the creation rather than worshipping the Creator. But you and I are blessed to know and love Him. So, turn off your tech devices and go outside. Take some time to look up, look around, and listen. Then add worship to the experience by praising God for creating and sustaining this home for us.

You and I are Merely Steward – Worship God by Caring for His Creation

We are to take care of our world not because we worship our world but because we worship the One who made it . . . that includes caring for one another. When we are good stewards of the world, people, possessions, and yes, ourselves we are being good caretakers of God’s gifts.

Bow Down and Kneel Before the Lord – Worship Him Humbly

When is the last time you got down on your knees to pray? I promise you it will change your attitude and help you focus. I’ve taken a challenge before to kneel in prayer every day for a week. It was powerful! So, if you are physically able, I’d like to challenge you to take some time to pray on your knees this week. And then come back and tell us about it.

Let’s pause to pray…

A Prayer to Add Worship to Every Day

Father God, You alone are worthy of all my worship and praise. I want to worship You every day of my life; yet, I know I allow busyness and distractions to turn my attention from You to so many other things. I allow myself to get more concerned about what people think than what You already know about me. I waste precious time on unnecessary things rather than investing in what is most important to You. Please forgive me.

Please help me add worship to every part of my life. May I intentionally remember that You are always with me and that Your unfailing love and faithful care are truths about You that never change. I want to sing Your praises and dance with joy. I want to pause regularly to think about who You are and all You have done and continue to do for me. I want to kneel before You in humble prayer. And I want to serve You in a way that pours Your love out generously.

Please help me. Fill me with Your Spirit. Prompt my heart to focus on You. And motivate me to honor and glorify You in all I think, say, and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

One more important thing to learn from Psalm 95, after the invitation to worship, the Lord has a word of caution.

If only you would listen to His voice today!
The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah,
as they did at Massah in the wilderness.
For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience,
even though they saw everything I did.

Psalm 95:7b–9

Next to those words in my Bible, I’ve written, “Trust & Obey!

The evidence is everywhere. God has given us creation, His Word, and His loving care. He has given us Jesus, the Word made Flesh. He has given us countless reasons to add worship to every single day of our lives.

I’ve shared 5 ways to add worship to your life. What have I missed? What are some of your favorite ways to worship God each day?

  1. Worship is definitely not limited to the time we spend in church, but must be an act we purposefully engage in every day. May we always be ready to praise and rejoice in God and all He has created and done for us.
    Blessings, Deb!

    1. Amen, Martha! I want to have an attitude of worship and praise in everything I do. I’ll admit, I’m still a work in progress but that is truly my prayer. Have a wonderful day!

  2. Another way I worship God is with my dog Pepper. I see so much of God’s relationship with me through my relationship with P. She’s not crazy about my singing, though!

    1. I love that, Carol! Thanks for bringing a big smile to my face today! Blessings!

  3. I find I spend so much time in my car that I have continuous conversations with God. Like an old friend 🙂

    1. I love that, Debbie! I find myself talking with God and lifting up songs of praise in the car, too. I’m not it in as much as I used to be but I agree, it’s a great place to spend time with the Lord. Blessings!

  4. Kathy Francescon says:

Good morning, Deb! I looove my King James Bible! There is no other version that contains the beauty of the words the way my KJV does. It speaks to my heart and soul like no other version I’ve ever read! I see and feel God in everything I do, every where I go! He is in everything, everywhere, all the time! He is not just a part time weekend Father and I love that about Him! If I am making my bed, I give thanks I have one. If I washing dishes, I give thanks for the food that was on them. I am thankful for the water to wash them…from the mundane, to the joyful, I try to include worship. “Seeing God in everything, makes life one long thanksgiving and more than that, it gives a joy to your spirit you otherwise may never experience!”
Praying everyone can experience seeing and feeling God’s presence every moment of everyday! Love and blessings to all for a wonderful week of worship, no matter what!

    1. Hey Kathy! I hope you’re doing well today. I wish I did a better job of worshipping while I’m doing chores. I do worship outside. I am always overwhelmed by the beauty of His creation. I love listening to worship music also. Thanks for encouraging us with your joyful spirit today! Blessings and hugs!

  5. Ana Cordova says:

Thank you Deb for reminding me to worship our Lord God on all his creation. I thank him daily when I rise for giving me a restful night and beautiful morning. I worship him when I pray in the morning and at night. Although sometimes my prayer at night is cut short when I’m tired. In the day, I make time to read my Bible, catechism, and whatever book I may be studying for my Bible class. I will join you in praying by kneeling beginning this week. I am going to begin listening to Divine Mercy song in the mornings so I can feel his love, peace, and joy in my heart as I worship him in the morning.
Have a wonderful blessed day and loved your post.

    1. I think I pray myself to sleep most nights, Ana! It is a blessing to know we can go to Him day and night and that He hears our pleas and our praise. Blessings and hugs!

  6. JoyceThomas says:

I also talk to God in the car on long drives down the mountain.
Firstly I acknowledge he is the one & only true God who sent his son to die for all our sins.
I plead forgiveness of any wrong doing I,ve done, just anything that He finds unpleasant to bring to my mind so that I can repent. Then I just talk to Him telling Him how humbled I an to be His daughter and just keep me in check (cos I really do need that at times!). I make up little songs of worship and merrily sing them. ~ BLESSINGS ???? TO ALL ????

    1. I love it, Joyce! Our cars are a great place to worship, praise, and pray. It also helps me handle bad driving situations with more grace. Blessings to you!
