How to Live with Perfect Peace All Year Long

Does the idea of living with perfect peace consistently feel like it’s just beyond your reach?
On our own, it is!
But with God’s help, it’s not only possible—it’s promised.
Isaiah wrote…
You will keep in perfect peace
Isaiah 26:3
all who trust in You,
all whose thoughts are fixed on You!
We’re not promised a perfectly peaceful environment, but when our hearts and minds are focused on the Lord, we can have a calm and confident spirit.
The Life Application Bible Notes add…
As we focus our minds on God and His Word, we become steady and stable. Supported by God’s unchanging love and mighty power, we are not shaken by the surrounding chaos.
Isaiah was so confident that he could trust this promise, he went on to say…
Trust in the Lord always,
Isaiah 26:4
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is the living TRUTH of God’s promises.
Angels announced His birth, proclaiming…
“Glory to God in highest heaven,
Luke 2:14
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
He told His followers, including all of us…
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27
I want that! I want to experience peace of mind and heart. I don’t want the Lord’s gift to sit on a shelf out of reach, but to be opened and used every day all year long.
Again, the Life Application Bible Notes add a helpful thought…
Our heart is the center of conflict because there our feelings and desires clash—our fears and hopes, distrust and trust, jealousy and love.
Our hearts and minds are where the enemy taunts and tempts us to doubt God and live with anxiety.
I was diagnosed with anxiety-depressive disorder years ago. I’ve always been highly wired and easily fearful. Although meds have helped, the only thing that gives me the perfect peace I want is my daily surrender to Jesus.
Honestly, it sometimes takes multiple daily surrenders of my heart and mind.
Do you remember Jesus telling His followers that simply sweeping out evil thoughts will not give us what we need? If we don’t replace evil taunts and temptations with Jesus’ TRUTH, the enemy will return more persistent and determined. (Matthew 12:43-45)
The thoughts that ruin our peace will return if we don’t replace them with the truth of God’s promises.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7
God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and His Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
May God give you more and more grace and peace.
1 Peter 1:2

So, let’s pray and surrender ourselves, asking the Lord to fill us with His perfect peace…
A Prayer to Live with God’s Perfect Peace
All Year Long
Father God, You are the true source of perfect peace who sent Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to save a lost and dying world. He gave everything for us, for me. Ane He alone can remove my sin and shame.
You sent angels to proclaim peace on earth when Jesus was born, and He left the gift of spiritual peace when He returned to the glories of heaven. The peace He gives isn’t temporary; it’s lasting.
When I keep my heart and mind focused on Jesus, I can enjoy the perfect peace You want for me. Peace that lasts all year long, forever and always.
By the power of Your Spirit, please help me replace the enemy’s peace-robbing thoughts with the TRUTH of Your promises. I want to hide Your Word in my heart so that I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11)
When I’m tempted to worry, I will bring my needs and concerns to You in prayer. I will bring You my humble repentant heart, trusting in Your promise to give me grace and peace.
I love You, Lord. I believe that with Your help, I can live with perfect peace all year long. All because of Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

C. S. Lewis wrote…
“God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.”
Paul wrote…
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Colossians 3:15
And Woodrow Kroll wrote…
If our minds are stayed upon God, His peace will rule the affairs entertained by our minds. If, on the other hand, we allow our minds to dwell on the cares of this world, God’s peace will be far from our thoughts.
My prayer for each of us is that we may be so full of God’s love and His promises that perfect peace fills our lives and overflows to everyone around us.
May the Lord bless you now and always!
We would love to pray for you.
