The Bible tells us that when we need Godly wisdom we should ask God and He will give it to us. So, we're praying Scripture and asking God for the blessing of wisdom and guidance for life.

I believe what we need most is Godly wisdom coming from God’s Spirit guiding and directing our lives.

The truth is when I looked it up, many of the definitions for “spiritual wisdom” were not God-given but originated with a secular view encouraging people to follow their hearts and trust their instincts.

But God created each of us for His glory to accomplish His plans and purposes. And if that’s the case, then we need His wisdom. We need Godly wisdom!

Wisdom is — 1) The ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. 2) The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting.

And…

Godly wisdom is from God and honors God … Worldly wisdom, on the other hand, is not concerned with honoring God but focuses on pleasing oneself. (G0t Questions)

Although the enemy of our souls wants us to believe happiness comes from self-focus and instant pleasure … experience teaches that those things leave us feeling dissatisfied and unfulfilled.

Why? Because we were created by God and for God and without Godly wisdom … true and lasting happiness is elusive.

Solomon wrote…

I said to myself, “Come on, let’s try pleasure. Let’s look for the ‘good things’ in life.” But I found that this, too, was meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 2:1

He also wrote…

Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.

Proverbs 3:13

To take a closer look, here are 12 Things to Know About Godly Wisdom.

The Bible tells us that when we need Godly wisdom we should ask God and He will give it to us. So, we're praying Scripture and asking God for the blessing of wisdom and guidance for life.

And now that we’ve determined we want and need Godly wisdom, let’s pray…

5 Verses to Pray When You Need Godly Wisdom

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God,
and He will give it to you.
He will not rebuke you for asking.
But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.

James 1:5–6a

Father, I need wisdom. This world is full of conflicting messages. Even people who profess Your name can’t agree on the truth. Thank you for inviting me to come to You for help when I’m confused and I don’t understand. Thank you for the TRUTH of Your Word. Jesus prayed, “Make them holy by Your truth; teach them Your word, which is truth.” (John 17:17)

By Your grace and with Your Spirit’s help, I will cling to Your Word and hold it in my heart. Please guide me each day that I might KNOW, TRUST, and OBEY Your will because I believe that is always the way of wisdom. Amen.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.

Praise Him forever!

Psalm 111:10

I love You, Lord. I love You so much I want to honor and obey Your commands in all I think, do, and say. I am so very sorry that I fail to do that perfectly. I have times when my thoughts are selfish and those selfish thoughts lead to selfish words and actions. Please forgive me and help me. Please give me the strength, courage, and grace I need to trust and obey Your will for me. Amen.

Treasure my commands.
Tune your ears to wisdom,
    and concentrate on understanding.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God

Proverbs 2:1b–2, 5

Father, You are the source of all wisdom. You are the source of knowledge and understanding. Because of Your gracious love, You created people in Your image and made it possible for them to KNOW You. You alone make it possible for them to accomplish Your plans and purposes. And that takes wisdom and understanding…

I pray that You will guide me by Your Spirit to SEEK Your heart so that I might KNOW Your will. May my heart’s desire be to follow wherever You lead me things surrendering myself to Your loving care and compassion. Amen.

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 11:1–2

Father, thank you for keeping Your promise. Thank You for loving us so much that You sent Jesus to give us a new covenant and a new way to live. Thank You for Your Word that tells us how He lived with wisdom, suffered and died in love, and rose again in victory to save us from sin, death, and the deceptive power of the enemy.

Thank you that through faith in Jesus, I can be filled with the Spirit of Truth. Thank you for making Him the source of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, and knowledge. Thank you that with the Spirit’s help, I can live each day with child-like faith humbly surrendered to Your loving care. And with Your help, may I love you so much that I “fear” disobeying and disappointing You. Amen.

The Bible tells us that when we need Godly wisdom we should ask God and He will give it to us. So, we're praying Scripture and asking God for the blessing of wisdom and guidance for life.

For the word of God is alive and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow.
It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Hebrews 4:12

Father God, Your Word has the power to transform lives. It shows us who You are, who You say we are, and who You want us to be. It helps us discern the truth from the lies in this sinful world. And It helps me look within my heart guiding me and helping me align my desires to Your will.

I pray that You will give me a love for Your living and powerful Word. Fill me with Your Truth and grant me the gift of wisdom so that I might know and follow the path You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ precious name, I pray. Amen.

Paul wrote the following to the church in Corinth…

Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

1 Corinthians 1:24–25

May we be careful where we go for wisdom remembering that God’s wisdom looks foolish to those who listen to the enemy’s lies but to those who prayerfully SEEK GOD and His Kingdom … Godly wisdom is from God and honors God.

May our gracious Lord and Savior bless you as you confess your need for Godly wisdom and may He give you everything you need to live according to His will.

We would love to pray for you.
