12 Beautiful Blessings Found in the Presence of Jesus
I’m more like Martha than Mary.
I want to be more like Mary. I want to be the one content to sit quietly in the presence of Jesus.
Jesus went into a town. A woman named Martha let Jesus stay at her house. Martha had a sister named Mary, who was sitting at Jesus’ feet and listening to Him teach. But Martha was busy with all the work to be done. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me.”
Luke 10:38-42 (NCV)
But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things. Only one thing is important. Mary has chosen the better thing, and it will never be taken away from her.”
But too often, I’m more like Martha than Mary.
Maybe you’re more like Martha, too.
I’m trying to be more like Mary. I want “those better things that will never be taken away,” blessings that can only be found in the presence of Jesus…

1. Relationship – We are never alone when Jesus is with us.

2. Truth – If we have questions because life seems complicated and confusing … Jesus gave us God’s unchanging absolute truth.

“Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:9,11
6. Freedom – If we feel trapped by sin and burdened by the world’s expectations … Jesus sets us free to be the people God created us to be.
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36
7. Purpose – If we feel uncertain and need a plan … Jesus holds the future. He has a plan and a purpose for each of us.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)
8. Peace – If we’re unsettled by life … Jesus wants to give us peace beyond our understanding. Peace the world cannot give.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. 2 Thessalonians 2:16–17
What wonderful blessings! I want to spend time in the presence of Jesus
Why would we want to be like Martha when I can be like Mary? We can choose the “better thing.” The thing that can never be taken away … blessings found at Jesus’ feet.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Be Content in the
Presence of Jesus
Lord, I am so prone to living with the busyness of Martha rather than the peaceful rest of Mary. I look for the approval of people over the blessings of being in Your presence. Please forgive me.
Father, I want to be fully content in the presence of Jesus. You sent Him to show the greatness of Your love through His life, death, and resurrection. He touched and changed lives while He lived among us and He continues to touch and change lives today.
Through Him, we go from the bondage of sin and death to the freedom of forgiveness and life … real and lasting life. Because of Jesus, we can experience peace and rest … purpose, joy, courage, hope, and love.
By grace, I am never alone. I have the assurance that You are with me always now and forever.
Nothing I do or say can sufficiently thank You; so, I give myself to You. I surrender my time, thoughts, words and actions, health, and everything I own. I give You my heart … my all.
I love You, Lord. By Your grace and the power of Your Spirit, I can live in the presence of Jesus and that changes everything. I thank and praise You now and forever. Amen.
Max Lucado wrote…
“We (Christians) are always in the presence of God. There is never a non-sacred moment! His presence never diminishes. Our awareness of His presence may falter, but the reality of His presence never changes.”
So, may we pause to remember how very blessed we are … as God’s children we live every moment in the presence of Jesus. May we quietly spend time sitting at His feet.
We would love to pray for you.

Amen, Martha! There are so many blessings found in His presence. It is my prayer to faithful spend time quietly in the Lord’s presence. Have a wonderful day, dear friend!
Please pray for a friend of mine name Ryan. Ryan had another friend take his own life. Ryan spoke to this friend just last week, and feels a little burdened that he didn’t see the signs of his friends cry for help. Our church is also praying for Ryan’s strength and peace during his trying time.
I’m very sorry, Vinnie. We’re praying for Ryan and asking the Lord to hold him close, surround him with His love, and fill him with hope and peace. God be with and bless you and your church family.
Deb, thank you for these wonderful reminders of the love of Jesus. Yes, it is so great to know that he is always available and near when we want to talk to Him and have Him in our presence. I love all of the verses you quoted. So many have been such a comfort to me.
Thank you for your wonderful friendship and for your encouragement. You are so very loved and appreciated by everyone of us.
Thank you, Sue! What a blessing it is to be friends in the Lord. I love the way He makes us family. Blessings and hugs!
